My ongoing detail project is a 1992 Sunburst Yellow Miata with it's original single stage paint.I recently purchased Adam's Correcting and detail polishes. I was very impressed with the ease of the product going on my Miata . I use a Porter Cable. I used Mothers Carnuba wax as I had some left. After the wax I applied Adam's Ceramic Boost. Very happy with the overall result and ease of use.

I look forward to learning more about the Adam's product line.

Started using Adam's products after I stumbled upon a car channel that talked about using the products. Ive made 2 orders so far, and every time I wash my car, I find myself wanting more...this could get expensive lol. Any who I just wanted to say hello, and hope to learn some good car care tips and techniques along the way.

I fill it with just soap and go.

Just kidding I do want to try that sometime though. I normally use about 2-3 oz on customers cars, 3-4 oz on more important cars.

The top should be fine with a wipe down with Car Wash Shampoo during your weekly wash.  Not sure what you use to clean it with, but a utility MF towel soaked in the wash solution, or the Fender Brush should work fine.  I have a old Adam's carpet brush (semi-stiff bristles) I use on my vinyl tonneau to deep clean it.  The Car Wash Shampoo will not remove the RaggTopp protectant.

Actually Adam has recommended RaggTopp on here before.

A little off topic, but I am reminded of a trip to my grandfathers cabin many years ago. Grandpa served lunch and I noticed the plate wasn't spotless. I made a comment and grandpa said "that's as clean as Coldwater can get them."
Well, this was the mountain cabin so I accepted it.
At dinner I noticed the plate wasn't very clean again. Grandpa saw me looking and repeated "That's as clean as Coldwater can get them."
Well we finished dinner and as grandpa stood up he said "Time to feed the dog, Coldwater, dinner time" and his faithful dog Coldwater came running.
I now return you back to the forum, and useful information about detailing.

decided to apply Adam's Ceramic Coatings to the trim and paint on mine.................... spent about 4 - 5 hours cleaning all of the black trim pieces, including the wheel wells for the coating............ and then spent about 14 hours prepping the paint for the coating as it had to be stripped first of the wax and sealant layered on it previously........... also had a few swirls and slight scratches to remove, as I wanted it as close to perfect before the coating application............. products used were Adam's Correcting Polish, Adam's Finishing Polish, Adam's Ceramic Trim and Adam's Ceramic Paint Coating kits................ used a Rupes 15mm Mark II, Rupes "Mini" and finish polished using a Cyclo Machine Polisher, as that seems to finish down with better results for me............ special "THANKS" to Dan (The Wolf) and Dan Tyger for answering a couple late night and off hour questions I had during the process..........photos taken at 9:15PM and still the shine and reflections are very evident............ looks good for a 5 year car with 25,000 miles...

b_pappy reacted to Chonke in Headlight Restoration Kit
So I was planning on detailing the truck this weekend but its going to be really windy this weekend, so itll have to wait for next week. However, I just received Adams new Headlight Restoration Kit. Really fast shipping btw. So i figured Id get a little head start and do the headlights.

Keep in mind that this truck is the exact opposite of a garage queen. I drive it through harsh roads almost daily and it definitely needs a little restoration Especially the headlights. This is actually the second time I take care of the headlights. The first time I used a big store headlight kit and it was a little disappointing. It took a lot of steps and it left a lot to be desired.

This time around, the headlights were in worse condition, so I decided to wetsand them and coat them with some UV rated clear so they last longer. I used 400, 800, 1500, and 2000 grit wet sandpaper.

Heres a picture of what they looked like:

As you can tell, they need some serious help. I started with 400 grit sandpaper. I mixed water with a little bit of adams rinseless to create a lube for wetsanding.

I gave it two passes with 400 to get it as even as I could. Immediately, all kinds of yellowish oxidation started dripping while I started sanding. But after a while I came out with this:

Once I felt it was nice and even, I switched over to 800 grit, and so on until I finished with 2000 grit.

Now what we were all waiting for...

It came packaged very nicely. Much fancier than your big store kits.
It came with a little sheet of instructions, pretty much showing the same steps as adams video tutorial.

I started with the microfiber cutting pad and Heavy Correcting Compound.

Then I moved on to the blue pad and Heavy compound, and finished with the white pad and finishing polish.

    These were my results

Looks much better than before. I noticed they have a little oxidation from the inside of the lens too which is impossible for me to remove without baking the headlight and popping it open. But thats ok with me. It still looks a whole lot better than before.
I started late, so it was starting to get dark outside and I only finished one headlight. Tomorrow Im going to do the other light, and go back and give it a second pass with the heavy correcting compound if I have enough left over. Im sure I will, but these headlights arent small, so I wanted to make sure I have enough for both lights first.

    Last picture for comparison

Please pardon the dirty truck, next weekend she gets a bath.

b_pappy reacted to ken5018 in Paint Coating and why you should BUY IT!!!
Been asked by a few people how the Adam's Paint Coating and Wheel Coating have been holding up so decided to post and share my thoughts!

    Paint Coating:
I had put the paint coating on about 6 months ago before the Northeast winter. Now we kind of had a "crappy" winter (meaning we didn't have much snow ). Some initials observations from when I put it on, very easy application! Little hard to see it cure on a white car, but still very easy! As soon as a put it on that week it was to rain pretty much all week. It beaded during the first week really well! At the end of the week when I went to wash it, as I rinsed it off I was blown away by how easy the dirt just washed away. Since then every week it has done the same. Which has made washing/maintaining my car so much easier! Every week when I wash my car I just use car shampoo and then dry it (no drying aid) and will then come back with the Adam's Ceramic Boost when it is dry (I know probably overkill but we wouldn't be on this page if we didn't do things that were a little obsessive ). Something I have notated about the Boost, I feel it is extremely comparable to CarPro Reload. And have actually used it by itself on other things and have great results!

Couple thoughts on the paint coating:
    Pros:
    - Ease of use (initial application)
    - Ease of keeping the car clean
    - Ease of removal (if you miss a high spot or you want to take the Coating off, very easy with a machine polisher to take it off)
    Cons:
    - Wish it was a little harder (as hard as his wheel coating)
    - Wish you could see it easier when it is time to level the coating (I know lighting helps but I guess I am just nitpicking)

    Wheel Coating:
I had put the wheel coating on about 1-2 months ago when I got my new wheels for the car. Once again it was very easy to use. I clean my wheels just like the paint. Except when I dry it off I use a sidekick blower. Then come back and hit it with Ceramic Boost.

    Couple Thoughts:
    Pros:
    - Beeds water even when it is dirty!!
    - Extremely easy to keep my wheels clean
    Cons:
    - Little harder to level the product during application (more "sticky")
    - Much harder to get off if you want to take the Coating off.

For being an "affordable" product, I have been extremely happy with the results and the ease it has created in keeping the car clean! I highly recommend the coatings for not only the added protection, but the ease of keeping the car clean!! Thanks for looking and here are some photos/videos for your viewing pleasure!

This is of me rinsing the wheels off before I wash them. They have become extremely easy to rinse the dirty away!!

This is of the paint being rinsed off before I foam the car down. Once again extremely easy to rinse the dirt away before washing!

And foaming the car down because who doesn't love a good foaming!!!

Ok kids... had to post this,...
normally after almost a week of rain, my commute on 95, crappy ripped up roads near home, and pollen... my SS is THRASHED.
    i swear,.... no wipedowns, nothing...

after ceramic boost, my SS is still gleaming aside from a few splash marks on the fenders. the stuff is amazing and the difference in almost a week is incredible.

so heres the proof. just taken, after the gym.

Hi Vince, awesome pictures! I think it was me helping you out with the Ceramic Boost questions (I have the SS sedan).

Ceramic Boost is absolutely my favorite product of ours now, it's crazy the amount of slickness and shine it creates, just make sure to lightly spray it just like you would with Detail Spray and then wipe it thoroughly.

Hi everyone, long time no here.
    Im back...
After a fun weekend in Carlisle, and being in the ADAMS tent 3 times and $$$$ later,...
I have to say my new favorite "toy" is ceramic boost. Holy smokes.

The paint on my 17 SS is pretty good, and I've kept it that way since I got it in October...

Using this as just a sealant after a careful maintenance wash... was incredible. Noticeable depth, amazing shine, and rain (the next day) FLEW off as I drove to work down 95.

I am due for my MINOR correction / polishing any week now, and I think I am going to commit to full ceramic coating treatment. So far, I'm blown away.

Adam demonstrated removing polish/wax with a machine in an old video.  He put a foam pad on the PC, then placed a MF towel around the pad.  The key seemed to be using a very low speed, so the towel does not spin, but just 'giggles'.

I have 2 Porter Cables and a Flex 3401.PC with 4 in backing plate other with a 6. Porter c has lots of vibration but great for starting out and great to do small areas, I use one for 4 inch pads and the other with a 6 to apply sealant to give my Flex a rest. Nothing cuts better than my Flex though. I've used a Swirl Killer, not the cutting speed of the Flex but a very nice machine. I guess if you are picking a machine for home use or doing it professionally it would matter as well. If a machine stalled like mentioned above, that would not be cool !! Time is money. Here is a vette I id this weekend. This is a pic of how bad the swirls are, the pic with the detailers tape is one pass with the Flex, gen 2 Adams pads and (old) orange paint correcting polish. Car was clayed with Adams Visco clay bar,2 step paint correction, Adams B Glaze, and finished with Adams Americana. You make the call from here about the machine.

I have a Flex 3401, the Cyclo, and obviously have used the Swirl Killer machines. I'm honestly thinking of selling the Flex. Just don't really see a need for it anymore. The Swirl Killers are that good.
