Junior got a reaction from DaleH in Trolls on the Adams site???
A problem with the first batch? I have one from the first batch and it works great. And while I’m cool with people leaving a bad review, It’s more around how valid the review is. Two of the bad reviews seemed to indicate the product worked fine and then didn’t. I would be willing to bet that is around user error in both cases. So the validity of those two reviews is greatly reduced. The other review talked about receiving a used product. I would be highly skeptical of that although it could happen. Regardless, the reviewer stated they didn’t want to spend the time to reach out to Adams. So they basically took all the ability away from Adams to be able to make it right. Again, that review is diminished. It’s like a review where a person goes to a restaurant and has bad service, but instead of feeding the info to the head of the restaurant and possibly coming away satisfied, they decide to go out on Yelp and blast the restaurant. And as to your point about the direction of Adams, they have been selling other companies products branded with the Adams logo for as long as I can recall. I’ve been a customer for 10 years and I can tell you that has very little impact on me as a customer. I realize they are looking to offer a wide variety of products for Detailers and people who just want to maintain their vehicle. They are also one of the few companies who support the products with a wealth of info and videos and back EVERYTHING THEY SELL.

i guess I could play Devils advocate to everything this post is about and say it’s good people are bringing user related issues forward to Adams so they can supplement their product info with some FYI instructions around maintaining the sprayer.

No matter who the company is, you're going to find people with agendas. Jealousy, maybe they were on here and didn't like something someone said to them, whatever the reason.  Sometimes that's the only way they can retaliate.  Then again, there are occasional flaws in every product so we can't dismiss all of them as trolls.  But those who support Adam's usually let us know by private message, or a phone call when something's not right because they know that Adam's will address the issue and make it right.
So all I can say is don't believe everything you read. There's an old saying about " just because it's on the internet it must be true."  Not so.

Nothing worse than opening the door on a ‘clean’ car only to see shmutzy door jambs. Same goes for the gas hole. Clean ‘em and keep ‘em clean.  BTW: I coated my door jambs, gas hole, trunk and hood margins, makes clean up a breeze. Paint Sealant, Spray Wax, Ceramic Boost, etc. also work well.  While you’re there remember to keep your weatherstripping properly conditioned per your owners manual.

One method I have used is the actual wash pad that I use for the lower portion of the car along with a lug nut brush and sometimes even a wheel woolie. Of course that’s after a pretreat using RW and I also have a bucket of soapy water. After all of that, I typically hit it with RW again and use a mf towel to get all the water off of it. It’s probably an overkill process but it works. After it’s dry I will usually glaze it also. But I’m a bit anal about my door jambs.

Junior reacted to shane@detailedreflections in The “professional” versus the “amateur...”
Between here and the Facebook group, I’ve seen some posts from users about wanting to start detailing for money. This got me thinking about the “pro” versus the “amateur” on a few levels.

One level is the results that can be achieved. Quite honestly, an amateur can achieve the same results as a pro. It may take them longer in most cases to achieve, but it’s certainly possible.

The biggest reason for this time difference is usually knowledge of the process and the tools and resources available. An experienced detailer usually has seen enough situations to be able to visually determine a process. At the very least they can come close to what’s needed as an educated guess. That’s less time spent guessing and realizing what doesn’t work and more time getting to what does work.

Another big difference is that the pro usually has more products at their disposal. If you look on my shelf, you’ll find multiple wheel cleaners, waxes, polishes, compounds, pads, etc. We don’t use them all on every job, but when we need them we have them in stock and ready to go.

This brings us back to knowledge of the processes. The pro has usually established a routine and it’s been honed down considerably to be efficient. The efficiency comes from the repeated application of the process. We don’t just do this a few times a year. We do it frequently and we are often in search of the most effective ways. The more effective we are, the more money we make. If we waste time on steps, we waste money. Both in terms of the job itself, but also on the next job coming in.

And the biggest difference between the pro and the amateur...tools and equipment. Our workspace is set up with a multitude of equipment that the majority simply doesn’t have access too.

Off the top of my head we have:

    - a lift
    - five polishers
    - steamer
    - hot water extractor
    - blower
    - air compressor
    - paint gauges
    - extensive lighting
    - multiple pads of differing types and sizes

That’s just off the top of my head right now. So for every situation, we have a tool that helps make it that much easier. It doesn’t mean it can’t be done without them, but it’s a time/effort equation.

So the amateur can achieve the same results. There’s rarely some deep, dark secret in the detailing world. It’s just patience and experience that separates us. And even at that, we can all learn from each other, pro and amateur alike!

My last Vette was an 02, sold it in 2012.  The day I traded her in, the seats looked almost as good as the day I got her off the rollback. 10 years.  The material was perfect, the only thing wrong with them was the padding was squished a bit from 10 years of me sitting on them.  The dash, doors, etc. ALL looked brand new. And the ONLY product that ever touched them was Adam's Leather Conditioner. Never needed to use the cleaner.  My Impala, Monte Carlo, Impala, Cadillac, and current Vette all have had nothing but Adam's LC. Not one issue ever. I have vented/heated perforated seats in the Cadillac, and perforated seats in the Vette, and never had any build up or filling in holes.
Before I found Adam's I tried a lot of other stuff, mostly Megs or Turtle Wax products. The difference for me was HUGE once I tried Adam's.
I apply it on a micro, wipe on, buff, and if it streaks, it's because it's soaking up product at different rates because some spots were drier than others. I just reapply until I get a uniform finish. In the winter before I put the Vette into storage, I use my hand and rub it in real well. Keeps it nice and moisturized until Spring comes around again. And that's in an unheated garage in Pennsylvania.
So there ya have it. You can pay more, you can pay less, but you won't find better with regular treatments.

    Kyle,

I think it’s awesome you are looking to get input from customers/forum members. Obviously, Adams cannot please everyone, but you guys definitely seem to connect with customers better than most companies I know. You guys do a lot of things right. Let’s start with that.

    Pros
    Customer focused
Back product line with excellent support
Quality products made in USA when possible
Great team led by a real good guy in Adam

    Cons
Forum support from actual Adams team seems to have diminished in recent years quite drastically

Prices are fairly high. I get that there is support baked in and there’s always a sale and sometimes discontinued things get drastically reduced, but most of the time 15% is all we can get off. It would be awesome to see Adams look at stats and maybe heavily discount slow sellers every now and then. Or so group buys on the Forum or social media.

Speaking of which, Some of the social media seems geared towards people who use terms like lit and fleek and bae. Those folks don’t know how to use proper English. I wouldn’t want them touching my car. At least based on the comments and some of the pair ups with some of the weird clothing brands (I guess that’s what they are) something called untamed I think. Those things tend to be happening a lot along with mystery boxes but some of the things folks ask for on the regular get no play. It’s like the focus is all over the place with things like that and product offerings that are really very strange honestly. I will always buy Adams as long as they continue the stellar product line and support. But the weird one off things don’t really appeal to me much. I like to detail cars. I really don’t care about having a backpack with Adams on it or a detail spray that says untamed. It seems like you guys are trying to do limited edition things like that to appeal to the cool crowd. I doubt most of those folks really know much about car detailing. I start looking at Adams sort of like how I looked at Chemical Guys. That’s not a good thing.

For the times that you need an item quickly or a single bottle, contact your local Chevy or Buick dealer - I have found several that have some stock, especially if they move Vette's.

Amazon Prime also carries much of the main product line and one-off items can be delivered in 1-2 days. Also don't underestimate the power of your local Adam's dealers. Even if you don't live close to a local dealer they can ship to you much quicker and often even cheaper than directly from Adam's.

I'll start by saying "I'm sorry" to anyone that may have had to wait a bit on hold last Friday early afternoon. But I assure you the Adam's team was in full-on service mode.   Following yet another awesome visit to the HQ last week, I walked to my car only to find it was dead. Enter Emery and Tyler. Both jumped into action, trying all they could to help. Unfortunately, neither the battery charger from the warehouse nor a jump-start worked. Meanwhile, it was a cool 90'+ in the parking lot, yet no complaints from either one.   Then, without hesitation, they offered to have Tyler drive me to AutoZone to get a new battery. I told them I have roadside assistance, but they wouldn't take "no" for an answer. Wow. Instead, I now owe them both a lunch for going out of their way to help a stranded customer. Anywhere else along the road and I'm sure I'd have waited a much longer time and/or run into someone not nearly as willing to help.   It's for this reason, and many others, I will remain a loyal customer of Adam's for years to come. Thanks so much, Tyler and Emery! Simply put, you guys are awesome.
