On a side note, effective immediately whenever Dylan is sent to an out of state show or event he will be drop-shipped to the location, sealed in a breathable package. It's for everyone's protection.

mc2hill got a reaction from LFairbanks in '68 Chevelle SS
I originally spoke to this customer about polishing his Corvette, as he wants to sell it.  Since the weather started to get nicer he decided he wanted to get the Chevelle shined up first for some cruising!

So here is what we are starting with - a 1968 Chevelle SS 396 4 speed.  This is a matching numbers car, with a good frame and floor boards.  The motor rebuild was completed a few months ago and he is ready to drive this beast!
The paint is good shape - swirls and a few RIDS.  The body work on one of the rear quarters is a little rough, but rest is good.

The owner had tried a few things to clean the tires, but I knew APC (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-121-adams-all-purpose-cleaner.aspx) would do the trick.  I started with a 50/50 mixture of APC& water and it looked ok, but the full strength version cleaned them up beautifully.  For the wheels I just used pre-mixed Car Wash Shampoo with a foaming sprayer.  I used Revive on the trim rings and center caps to clean them up, and of course SVRT for the finish.

I did a strip wash with 2 oz. of Adam's APC and 1 oz of Adam's Car Wash Shampoo in 2 gallons of water.  Since I was washing in the sun, after the stirip wash I mixed up another batch of just Car Wash and wiped the car down again to help neutralize the APC .  After a pool rinse I use the Sidekick to get the water out of the trim and finished with DS and a GWDT.

The exhaust tips were in good shape, just needed a little cleaning.

    Now on to the paint.

It did have some nasty over spray!  I tried the new Adam's Clay Bar for the first time (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-1004-new-adams-made-in-the-usa-detailing-clay-bar.aspx).  I have to say I LOVE IT!  It is soft, but not sticky.  And as you can see, it works just fine.

The combination that ended up the best was Adam's MF cutting pads (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-954-new-adams-65-orange-microfiber-cutting-pad.aspx) and Adam's Paint Correcting Polish (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-942-new-adams-paint-correcting-polish.aspx).  One section pass of 4-5 'movements' with heavy pressure, clean the pads, then add more polish.  I did another section pass of 3-4 'movements' with heavy pressure then 2 'movements' with no pressure to finish.  With this process I did not need to follow with a finishing pad & polish.

(Sorry, I only had one good 50/50 shot)

This car took much longer than I expected.  I did not realize there was so much 'acreage' to cover, even with a vinyl top.  The trunk was 6 sections and the hood was 12!

The bumpers had a few scratches, but the MP1 and a metal polishing pad shined them up nicely.  The other trim is original, so I just hit it with Revive.

When I washed the car I scrubbed the vinyl roof with the Adam's Carpet Cleaning Brush (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-586-adams-carpet-cleaning-brush.aspx).  I applied SVRT and it really darkened it up.

After working a few shows for Adam's I found out how well In and Out Spray (http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-517-adams-in-and-out-spray.aspx) works on Chevy trim.  I hit the badges, center caps, and grill to really bring back the black.

To finish off this detail I used the 'face melter' combo - BG and Americiana.  This combo really brings out the depth of the paint.

I only wiped down the engine compartment with a Utility Towel dampened with Waterless Car Wash.

And this is my favorite shot (this is the actual picture, no editing)

You are on the right track by starting with FMP.  Use the least aggressive method first, and that would be FMP.  IF you need to go more aggressive, try SHR next.  I would think that should be enough to take out the swirls, then finish with FMP.  IF SSR is required, you can try skipping SHR, it may work on your paint.
Some do not remove the polishes after each step, it is not required.  I do remove them to better see the results.

Hey guys, I'm sure everyone in the Detroit area has heard of Mr. Lingenfelter's car collection, but if not, it's a 200+ collection of everything from a Bugatti Veyron, to a 53 Corvette. This year, the open house is benefiting the Shades of Pink foundation, which is a charity supporting breast cancer awareness, and funding to find a cure. It's always an awesome event, but this year is the biggest & best that has ever been done. Mr & Mrs Lingenfelter are huge supporters of charities of all forms, and are genuinely the nicest people in the industry. Here is a link to the Facebook page for the event- https://www.facebook.com/events/622599404426885/

Thats terrible man... so sad to see that. When things settle down for you the team here would like to chip and and help replace some of your products. Obviously car car products won't be high on your priority list, but if it could bring some sunshine to an otherwise really bad situation for you we'd be happy to do it.

It depends on the condition of the paint (more passes to correct = more product used) and the size of the vehicles, but 5-10 cars easily

Just wanted to say thanks again to Adam and his staff for the outstanding job of customer service. My girl friend Jacquii bought me the Adams Rolling Detail Seat back in April of this year.  I have used the "seat" quite a bit since i have owned it. Unfortunately today as i was  scooting around my SRT6, one of the wheels caved in and fell off.  We looked for the paperwork and called Adam's and spoke with Nick. I explained the issue, and he immediately cut an order and shipper for a brand new cart. Within a minute I had an e-mail notifying me of this. All Nick asked for was some pictures of the "original cart" for future reference.  I have never had this kind of service from any organization, and I told Nick I would be a customer for life, and asked him to send my comments up the "chain of command". I also expressed my appreciation and gratitude for the Two Step Polish and Finish process, the results I had this past weekend were nothing short of phenominal.

hi, I remember that some of you wanted to see come to Normandie landing beaches and museums.
I go this week. this is impressive, it's scary, bunkers on the dunes are very numerous and are broke. there are some death machine and are full of impact and you can see the impact on the concrete bunkers. it's scary.
    The American cemetery is great.
must be minimum 3 days to see everything.
must start by" Omaha beach" and the museum Overlord, and all the muséums and beachs  that inspired you, then "La Pointe du Hoc", cemeteries, and finally the cinema of Arromanches 360 °.
making visits in the order you go up in power and it is more and more afraid. the cinema 360 summarizes the landing with images, video and sound amazing and very impressive bands.
    has said that, "thank you"
we learn all this at school but is too young to understand and get involved. when you're an adult and you're on the spot, this is impressive. this is terrible. you see pictures of nearby after the battle. there is nothing.
the German cemetery is shabby and there are only 28 spaces parcking, while the American cemetery several hundred square parcking, so there are tourists

Thank you for reading. and a big thank you for the Rangers of alls nations for the sacrifice.

Ok, the story is like this.  I have been complaining to Adams that I miss the instant chat we used to have with Ashley.  Yes, it is there sometimes but my luck, not when I am looking for it.  Sending an e-mail just doesn't work all the time.  Since I am a Finance guy, my questions are not detailing savy enough to have my question answered based on my topic.  So, this past week I spent some times trying to get answers because I was planning to detail my wife's black Volvo on Saturday.  This will be my last Saturday I will not be working for a long time and I wanted to get the paint protection needed for the upcoming weekend.  I also called Adams and did get things cleared up. Unfortunately for the Adams employees, many at Adams knew I was planning to detail this weekend due to my frequent question .  Most at Adams also knew I place an order over Labor Day since I wanted to use the new two step paint correction system along with the Quick Detail and the Patriot Was #61 of 250. Being a long time customer of Adams, I could not wait to use all the new Adams products.
Well, I left work early on Friday to come home and begin the cleanup and taping project along with claying. When I arrived home, the Adams package was waiting for me, fantastic.  I opened the box, went through everything I ordered but something was missing.  Checked again, nope, missing the new Paint Finishing Polish.  In the box was a note that it is on back order.  Needless to say, I was not happy.  Immediately I sent an e-mal to Adams telling them how disappointed I was that I was not alerted.  The order could not be seen on there website so I was unable to see this for myself.  Well, my plan was to go back to some older product which is not bad at all but I was looking forward to the new items.  In about an hour, I received an e-mail from Matt saying they just received a new shipment of the Paint Finishing Polish and they sent it out next day, Saturday, delivery using FedEx.  I should receive it by noon. Unbelievable.  Well, I started the detailing project about 9 am and at 10:15 am, a Fed Ex truck shows up, delivers the product and I did get the opportunity to use the new Adams products after all. (See attached picture for proof of delivery) . Amazing customer service and I would like to thank everyone at Adams for keeping me a satisfied customer.  I HOPE that as Adams Polishes does grow, they do not lose that personal touch with customers and especially the long-term customers.  Heck, I even used my white gloves purchased from Adams years ago to present the detailed Volvo to my wife. Yep, they sold them years back. Again, thanks to the ADAMS gang. The car looks amazing.  Best job yet.

This.  I noticed Adam did this on the release videos of the new 2 step system.  It was an "ah-ha" moment for me.  The last time I polished, I worked the polish over the majority of the panel and when it was thin enough, I would hit the gaps.  This did not leave any polish in the gaps.  I am now only taping the emblems and plastic trim as well.

She had a bad day and sent me out of the house for some quiet time with the little ones so guess what I did? Yup went fishing again, got 5 more in about 30 minutes. Then I got home and had a shot of Canadian whiskey in a Canadian shot glass in memory of our Canadian friend Jim (Nordgrey) McNeill that left us a year ago today.

I polished and waxed thie 1914 Renault earlier this year and the owner called me this week about removing some grease stains from these original 99 year old seats.

Needless to say I was a little nervous, but knew my Adam's products would not let me down.  Being cautious, I diluted some Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner about 60/40 with distilled water.  I sprayed that solution on a Edgeless Utility Towel and tried it on a less noticeable area.  There was no degradation of the material and the owner was very pleased with the preliminary results.  The grease stain was on the upright portion of the front passenger seat (the left hand seat in this car).  I cleaned the area and wiped it with water.  To see the progress, we used a hair dryer to remove the moisture.  The area looked better, but took 2 more applications to make in unnoticable.  There were a few stains in the seat backs of the rear seats in the picture that looked like water stains and another grease stain on the seat bottom.  I was able to remove the grease stain and make the other stains less noticable.

I have to say I LOVE working on this car!
