I went through a soft touch carwash once thinking it was touch free. I about cried. Had to close my eyes throughout the whole thing, thinking of those gritty sponge-like things dragging down my car.

I was filling up last week and I watched a lady wash her entire car at the pump with the windshield washing sponge. I couldn't believe what I was seeing

The customer before her was a forum member who just filled up the pole mounted bucket with diluted and Wash and Wax. And that wasn't any old windshield washing sponge, it was a prototype Wedge on a pole!

Taping emblems may help with not getting the pads snagged on and cut by sharp edges. Otherwise, I didn't do anything with mine. Just stayed clear.

Use VRT on the trim first, after the strip wash, and any polish or sealant will wipe right off easily.

I've never used the PFP, but my gut tells me do the whole car with PCP first, then do the PFP. Saves from switching the pads back and forth.

Have fun. The PC is a great tool.

I use VRT for most trim instead of tape. Apply VRT before polishing/waxing and any product will wipe right off. I go around with VRT again when I'm done just to smooth out the look.

You can do the whole car with correcting polish. Then the whole car with finishing polish. Then glaze. And wipe off.

In my opinion, the order is fine, with a few exceptions:Strip wash, VRT the trim, Clay, polish with PC, alcohol wipe down with blue microfiber (50/50 with water, removes the polish oils), seal with PC, wax (follow other people's advice on this one; I haven't waxed my DD yet).

I also use the PC7424 as my first polisher and was thrilled with the results. It vibrates more than the newer models (e.g. cyclone), but it's nothing that will drive you crazy. Besides, it makes you feel like you did some of the work!

Yes, HGG goes on by hand.

Remember, the pads are color coded, so orange pad with PCP, white pad with PFP, grey pad with LPS.

Also should add, if your paint is pretty good, you may not need the PCP just yet. The PFP may be good enough.

Good luck, and enjoy the new adventure!

New to both Adam's and the forums. Already addicted to the former, and looking forward to the latter.

I've already made a few purchases so my stock is ever increasing. Just bought a Kia Optima...Snow White Pearl...so am getting it ready for the CO winter. My son's car (Xterra) came back to life with the Adam's products (Detail Srpay, Paint Correcting Polish, Paint Sealant, VRT, Tire & Rubber Cleaner, Wheel Cleaner) so his was the experiment before I work on mine.

Yes, LC can help recondition the leather.

This is a 1913 Peugeot that was rebuilt recently.  The leather was treated several times by hand over a week with Adam's LC.

Definitely try their new Tire and Rubber Cleaner. You may need to apply and scrub twice like I did, but it'll clean your tires right down to bare rubber. Then apply the VRT.

Thanks to my good friend Adam for the great time I had today visiting Adam's HQ!

After taking delivery of a topper for my "other" vehicle (2013 Toyota Tacoma) in Denver this morning, I continued northwest for a visit to Adam's HQ.  Adam's Team member Ryan greeted me on arrival and took good care of me, helping me with great deals on several products I needed.

It had been a while since I visited the "mothership," so Adam indulged me with a tour of ongoing bottling operations while mentioning some plans has for future expansion.  I look forward to more frequent visits when they come to fruition...

Got a chance to observe and try several upcoming products (chemicals and tools) Adam is developing - some GREAT stuff on the horizon! Enjoyed lunch with Adam in Louisville, while talking about a host of topics that spanned cars, business, family, and even a little politics. Got back from lunch in time to meet some other loyal Adam's customers.  Left with some new products (in non-descript packages) to try.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Adam... THANK YOU! You've earned my trust and my business. I recommend Adam’s Polishes to anyone in the market for car detailing products and advice. I look forward to the next time we get together, my friend!

I rinse the entire car, use the Sidekick to blow the water out of the areas is collects in, then section by section spritz DS on the panel and dry.  Remember to wash the sunny areas last and dry them first.

A 16oz bottle is more than enough for my 3 daily drivers to last a year. I usually only need it in spring and fall, when I reapply my LPS.

I rarely ever use the wheel cleaner. Regular maintenance and applying LPS or H20 GG and they stay pretty clean. Or, after a couple months I'll use the wheel cleaner then reapply LPS. Half a bottle per use sounds very excessive.

falcaineer reacted to Performance Auto Detailing in What Are Your Most Used/Favorite Towels & What Do You Use Them For?
Having used all of the towels Adam's offers at some point including on my personal vehicles and on a ton of customer's vehicles, here is my opinion and what I use them for:

Great White Drying Towel: Works as it is supposed to and is high quality. I like the large size, which can dry multiple vehicles if needed. I use a smaller version of the GWDT currently as I don't need the large size.

Waterless Wash Towels: I use these towels for door jambs, cleaning windows or even to dry after a rinseless when a GWDT is not needed. I do not however use them for waterless washing as I prefer a safer, plush option instead. I also like to keep 16x16 waffle weaves in my collection as well.

Utility Towel: I love this towel, my favorite interior cleaning towel. If they weren't so expensive compared to other options I'd have a lot more of them. Also found that these work well for glass since they have extremely low nap.

Glass Cleaning Towel: I am not a fan AT ALL of glass cleaning towels (not just the ones that Adam's sells). They are thin, making holding on to them difficult and they drag across the glass. I much prefer waffle weave towels for glass cleaning (I use a 16x16 waffle weave towel for glass).

Single Soft: Rarely use them anymore now that I discovered the Borderless towels but it is a good, high quality towel but expensive. Works well for wax/sealant removal or rinseless washing. Might be a little too nice for a rinseless towel. Stain very easily also due to the white color.

Double Soft: Never been a fan of the Double Soft and don't quite understand all the love this towel gets. Sure, it is probably the plushest towel you will find but it is too plush in my opinion. It is too large and heavy to do a GDWM Rinseless with as it requires you to practically fill an entire bucket. They also take up a lot of storage room in comparison to the Edgeless towels which is inconvenient for those who are mobile detailers or have tight garage space. Detail Spray wipe downs are the only use I've found for Double Softs, as Single Softs and the Borderless towels work better for every other use and are plenty safe and don't cost $15 a towel.

Borderless Towels: My favorite towel currently. Only towel I'll use for a rinseless wash and love them for wax/sealant removal as well. I've used the Grey, Blue and Orange Borderless Towels (I buy in bulk from the supplier). The longer nap makes it a really good option as a rinseless towel or for waterless wash wipe downs. Reasonably priced when purchased in bulk and have many uses. It is not just a "luxury" towel like I consider the Double Soft to be, it actually has many uses.

Adam's no longer offers the metal polishing towel it appears (which I never owned). I see people talking about using the double soft, single soft or borderless towels for this task and personally I think that is ill-advised considering the price and quality of those towels.

If you have not placed the order yet, maybe request the swap BW for PS.  There may be slight cost increase, but for daily drivers PS offers more protection.

Good catch, Dustin. That's what I did, too, except I did an alcohol (50/50 with water) wipe down after the polish vs strip wash, and didn t use the HGG/wax, which I didn't have or want to use. Following this, Jonny, you won't be disappointed. Don't forget your wheels (Wheel Cleaner) or tires (Tire & Rubber Cleaner). Good luck!

Given your stated parameters (i.e., daily driver, not a show car, freshen up only, white paint), I'd skip the BG and wax.

You'll get better "bang for your buck" by going with Liquid Paint Sealant after you correct/polish the paint.  BG provides an outstanding shine, but offers no protection.  Wax provides a great shine with limited protection.  Liquid Paint Sealant provides a good shine with great protection.  If you're set on BG and/or wax, layer it on top of Liquid Paint Sealant for the best of both worlds.

The typical regiment most people follow is Strip Wash, Clay, Polish, (I like to strip wash again to remove polishing oils), then seal with LPS. After it cures, top with HGG or wax.

Ditto! I was just typing the same thing but mistakenly closed the window. I followed this regiment (ironically on Norton's suggestion) on my son's daily driver with beautiful results. Since his was the experiment (I'm new to Adam's), time to do the same on mine.
