Absolutely. Once the hearing is gone, it's gone. Always use the foamies with my sidekick blaster and often the Bose noise cancelling headphones with my polishers.

That looks like water dripped on your car try using white vinegar before you compound because compound will remove your coating, this is easy no mJor damage looks like the sun baked it on, it's no big deal.

Jason S. got a reaction from krea1975 in why would you blow out the interior instead of just vacuuming?
I do this too. But I first do an initial, rough vacuuming, to get the bulk of the loose debris off the floor. Then blow out. This prevents blowing huge amounts of dirt all over the place. Then I do a 2nd stage deep vacuuming. This is followed by any required steaming and/or carpet cleaning. Just before customer delivery, I often do a quick final vacuuming to pick up small debris that I might have tracked in doing the rest of the detail.

speaking of needing a detail. This Bentley came off the delivery truck like this. Basically they pulled the protective cover off and bam, factory installed swirls. Our detail guys hate doing them, because Bentleys are the most work to correct. There were at least 4 different sections of beautiful swirls from a rotary polisher. And thats black paint.

When I first started there i worked in the detail department and cringed when I saw how they "washed" cars. On my second day i brought my personal Adam's stuff in and washed it the right way. Everyone laughed but when someone needed a car cleaned they came to me. Did that for about 6 months But using my own stuff got expensive among other things so i got hired into the paint shop and now i get to deal with them ruining my fresh paint jobs.

Agreed. Quick summary: Wheel Coating is rated 9H for hardeness, so more durable than the 7H Paint Coating, is made to stand up to brake dust, and is perfectly fine for powder coated wheels (however, it may add unwanted shine to matte or satin finished wheels, so be sure of what you have - post a pic or check the manufacturer's info).

See www.adamspolishes.com/wheelcoating and www.adamspolishes.com/paintcoating for a lot more in depth details.

    Happy coating!

I use my SK for paint sealant (grey pad) and Brilliant Glaze (red pad) in addition to normal paint correction.

Jason S. reacted to Rb1274 in so how long does brilliant glaze last.
I agree on the grey being hard to get it to pop. I use H20 every month or so. When I'm all caught up on washes and other detailing thing I like to "play" with the Brilliant Glaze. The gloss is amazing, last for a week or so until it's dirty and washed again. Day one it will knock your socks off... day three four five... ehhh. Just fun to see how shinny you can make it. Also I say play because you can put it on everything and wipe it down with NO effort. Just something to do...

Dan is the man! I am not one of those people upset about the 3-step polishing. Adams has been missing a compound from its lineup for a long time. So I was glad to see it. The "medium" cut you mentioned can be created by using different pads, as Dan mentioned. microfiber pads are amazing technology that bring you great cutting power without the disadvantages of the rotary machines & wool pads.

Thanks Jason! Appreciate the compliments. It was a pleasure to do the job and to write it up. I'll try to make keep better track of hours next weekend when I do my Lotus. Again, it'll be two of us working on the vehicle. But it'll be a full job where we will pull the wheels off and everything.

Another thing...a trim kit will do quite a few vehicles (unless doing an avalanche or something with a very large amount). The wheel kit will do multiple vehicles easily. And the paint kit will do at least two vehicles...possibly three. I was amazed at the amount of coating left with each product. So...you may want to order a couple of extra fresh single soft for buffing off and a couple extra applicators if you think you may do more than one vehicle. I didn't take the chance and tossed the towel and applicator with each step.

Another random thought is that the entire front end of that truck is plastic. Big change from the previous version. The interior is way nicer than previous generations. Just random truck thoughts.

Looks awesome, Shane. Question about the towels: As you work around the vehicle, wiping & leveling, does the coating start hardening in the towel, forcing you to use additional towels? Or was 1 towel enough for the leveling process? Just curious how many towels you consumed for a vehicle this size. Also curious to see a man hour breakdown of this entire job, if you feel like sharing.

I try and support American made stuff as much as I can. It's nearly impossible to avoid Chinese products altogether. I fly a US military aircraft for a living, and even that has some stuff made in China. I have the Rupes mini AND the larger swirl killer. While the Rupes is a beautiful machine, the SK isn't far behind. It may lack the power somewhat, but it's really a nicely built machine and a great deal. I went from the PC to the SK, and it is a major upgrade.
