    Wheel Cleaning and Polishing

While I routinely deep clean the wheels and tires twice a year when I take them off to rotate them, after 2.5 years they were in need of a machine polish to remove minor swirls and a few larger scratches from having fun in the sand dunes.

I lifted the truck with my new Ranger Quickjack to remove the wheels.

After pressure washing to remove most of the crud, I cleaned barrels of the wheels with All Purpose Cleaner, and used Tire & Rubber Cleaner on the backs of the tires.

Switching to the fronts, I hit them with the Foam Cannon using Strip Wash, then did the tires with Tire & Rubber Cleaner.

After drying with the Master Blaster Revolution, I brought them into the garage for inspection.  There were minor swirls as shown on this center cap.

The first step of machine polishing with the Rupes Nano was done using Correcting Polish and the Rupes Blue Coarse Pad.

The 1.5-inch pads on this little machine made it possible to polish the tight areas.

The second step of machine polishing with Finishing Polish and the Rupes Yellow Fine Pad.  This photo shows the use of the 2.75-inch pad for polishing the faces of the wheels

Level of correction was very good.

AH HA! That is awfully handy. I used distilled water for my dilution. Heading out now. I'll report back on if I was successful.

    LOL!

Yes, I do some product testing for Adam's, but that's not why I have a PH meter. My day job is in the Dairy Industry and part of my responsibilities are to work through quality issues on dairy farms. The PH meter is used to test the strength of cleaners, acids, and sanitizers, as well as the PH of the water they're starting off with to clean their milking equipment.
Added bonus is it can help me better mix water into Adam's chemicals to know what strength I'm using. Mixing Leather & Interior  Cleaner 50/50 with water is fine, but what's the PH of the water you're mixing it with: 7 neutral? 6 or lower, acidic? 8 or higher more alkaline? Without being able to test, consistency can be gained by using a known water source; Distilled Water.

Here is my honest speeding train of thought when I read that: Who seriously tests the PH? --> I don't even have a pH tester. --> Who does? --> Dave, and pool owners duhhh (never had a pool or hot tub)--> Actually...Knowing the pH of solutions IS the basis of knowing how to clean them. (I rarely think of my cleaning in terms of acidic and alkaline. The labels make it too easy to not even think about the chemistry.) The precision is not unlike volume measurements vs. weighted measurements in baking. Weight is always more accurate. (Takes break to check prices of pH testers online. Looks up soil testers too.) --> Am I the only one on this forum without one? --> Wait a minute, I think I read somewhere you are an Adam's product tester, aren't you? --> ???? ????????Thanks for your help!

The below pictured sunscreen was noticed two weeks after returning from a week on Hilton Head Island in June. It was baked on and attached to the leather where Interior Detailer made no difference to its appearance. Leather & Interior Cleaner mixed to a PH of 8 took it off easily using only an Edgeless Utility Towel.

I know I once had a problem like this because it's sunscreen and most sunscreens are water resistant I had to use APC to remove the sunscreen follow with a littl agitation of my horsehair brush and then topped it off with leather conditioner.

    Good Luck

Be sure to try it somewhere where it won't be so obvious in case it discolors or has a bad reaction. It's rare, but can happen with any leather cleaning product.  Better safe than sorry later.

Roger that! Thx for your input. It's my Dad's truck, and I'm willing to bet he hasn't conditioned the leather since he got it in the spring. How nice that the universe sent me an extra bottle of Leather Conditioner in my MB.

    Yes, yes and yes.

Your plan is solid.  Try the diluted Leather & Interior Cleaner first with a microfiber towel.  If that does not completely remove it, use the product full-strength with the towel.  If there is still some residue left, then agitate with the Cockpit Brush, then wipe with the towel.

Once clean, follow up with the Leather Conditioner to restore the leather and add protection.  Also note that keeping the leather well conditioned helps reduce any further stains like this, as the offending product does not tend to soak in if the leather pores are already filled with conditioner.

8675309'SS reacted to Dan@Adams in Tire Shine spray tip cleaning/care?
Hi Allen! I will usually wipe the spray nozzle with the foam block applicator to remove any dried liquid from the previous use, then I will set the sprayer to the mist setting and do one, full-pull trigger spray either into a sink, grass, etc. Make sure to shake the bottle as well. This should let the product atomize properly and mist out ok. Tire Shine and HGG are two of our thickest products, so they will spray out a little odd sometimes if there are any clogs in the sprayer.

If you want to clean the sprayer out, I will unscrew it from the bottle, and then do a few full-pull trigger sprays right back into the 16oz bottle. This way you're not wasting any product.

On a related note, we recently switched over to new 16oz sprayers that everyone should be receiving in orders now. They have several improvements from our previous sprayers, and I'll put up a new write-up on them very soon

So what was everyone's big score this year? Adam's related or not

I'll go first. I spent actual Christmas on the ship this year, but before I came back to work, my parents traveled to Florida from Maine for a week to visit me. I hadn't seen them in over a year now. So that was my best gift by far.

Hello all, I have been using Adam's for a couple of months now and I can say that I am obsessed. But I got a few (well quite a few) Adam's products for Christmas! I opened it and I was kind of disappointed because I thought it was actually the Meguiar products but I opened it up and that was what was inside! I thought I should share and I hope that y'all received Adam products or some kind of gift card yourself!

Yup...I've never had the same car wash I use on the paint not remove the normal grime/brake dust from normal driving.  But my wheels get the same TLC as the paint.  I use that type product once a year; usually after winter when the salt winter roads combines with the iron deposits from the brake dust.  I just got the impression from more than one post on here that folks are using this every time they wash.
