  1. Thanks

Take this with a gram of salt.  My 07 Jeep GC has a plastic bumper topper that is pretty grey.  I wanted to coat it, but not until I used trim restore on it.  I put multiple thin coats on and it turned out great.  To me coating it after the restore dried for a day or two seemed too soon.  The restore looked too wet, so two weeks and two car washes later I coated the plastic.
My point is, this may take multiple visits to get it back.  I would let the customer know you will make it right, but it will take multiple visits.

Ya, two plus hours on a Sierra Denali. I used an airbrush to apply the initial coat to ensure full coverage of all the angles.
Second coat was just applicator on the chrome leading edges.
Definitely took a lot of patience....

I also use 6000K, 4’ LED lights mounted on wall. Found them on Amazon for a pretty reasonable price, and pulled the trigger.

This pic was taken (during construction) without the overhead lights on.
Overhead I switched the old 4’ fluorescent tubes out for  (16x) 6” round LED pots, 6000K.

(That said, I still have the big 500W halogen tripods on standby, and an assortment of handheld units to chase the “finer details”)

    Lots of solutions.

So I do have Canadian and International DS,  but as I’m not a collector, would gladly trade them for usable product.

    Heres the hitch:
    I’m in Canada.

Anyone ship chemicals over border? Is there challenges?

And the Ford GT350 is back home with it's owner and we picked up his wife's C7 Corvette Grand Sport for the same treatment!

It was an overcast day, and a cold one at that!  So the lighting could have been way better for the photos.  But...it's enough to get the idea in natural light.  Enjoy!

    DanITD reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Let’s talk...micropolishers
This was way cheaper than the nano, provided you have a polisher to power it. We have a nano and use it a ton. This will just bring us to that next level around emblems as needed or to polish out exhaust tips or painted calipers.

And food for thought if you’re building a business, you need to do things to set yourself apart from other detailers. There’s a lot of competition out there from other business and those with a detailing “business” who are really hobbyists doing it on the side for cash.

There is nothing wrong with people who do that, it’s how I started. But you’re also competing on price at that point and those guys can (and usually will) do it much cheaper since they just want to make money, not to sustain a business and all of it’s expenses.

One way we combat that is to say what sets us apart from others. And that’s an investment in our equipment and training that makes it worth the extra premium to come to us.

If you’re looking to grow your business, set yourself apart and work your media from that angle. The whole hobbyist/professional pricing strategy could be a whole separate discussion in itself. Both have merits, and both can produce the results. They just both have different mindsets in how business is run and what is needed to get there.

Sorry for my long winded reply.

Thanks so much. We are always trying to improve. Ordered the Rupes rotary for faster corrections and the auto triz nano polisher for even smaller than our Rupes nano. Going to set up an old rarely used DeWalt with the micro polisher. Going to the next level!!!

In the on deck circle we have a Ford Mustang GT350 followed by a C7 Corvette Grand Sport. Also have a Mazda 3 coming in for our entry level coating. Then an F150 with full painted front. And lastly a C7 Z06 with Z07 package. All in for coatings...and the last Vette some ppf work. The F150 might get some film done as well...

No shortage of work going on here!
