I typically would go lower. But want to stay close to stock height on this one for when I add the traction bars and all 🤙🤙

When I apply TS, I spray it into a foam block and rub it onto the tire. This keeps me from spraying it all over everything that's not a tire and I can also rub it in real well and get even coverage. I've never had any problems doing it this way. I don't see a need to wipe it. I just let it dry for a while and I haven't seen any sling or anything.

Well, my name is Shane. That’s an easy one!

My quest is to keep making cars as clean as we can and to share knowledge and passion for what we do. In the meantime I have to balance that quest with a full time career as a firefighter.

Thanks to your question and google, I now know the speed of a swallow is about 24 miles per hour, or 11 meters per second. Or did you mean a European or African swallow?

And then the microfiber and wool pad question. Wool pads are some of the most aggressive pads you can use. Even those come in degrees of cut. They will cut more aggressively than microfiber which cuts more aggressively than foam. As a rule for us, when the wool comes out so does the rotary typically. If we are in so deep we are using wool, we are using an aggressive compound (even a matting compound at times) and a rotary. We are trying to move the process along. It’s slow to remove defects sometimes with other methods, so the wool/rotary will get us there quickly. We then polish the finish back to smooth, glorious life before applying last step products.  Bear in mind that it’s easy to do damage with a wool pad, rotary and compound. Be easy on the edges, very easy. And keep the machine moving. Heat will build up as wool pads work by creating friction. Heat, rotary and abrasives are a dangerous combo. If you’re thinking of playing with them, I suggest using a test panel to show what can be done.

That actually reminds me I have a corvette trunk deck to play with. I should use the matting compound and wool and photo what it does and the steps to bring it back, then different coatings on it. Eventually when I have time...

@shane@detailedreflections has you covered, but here's an article that addresses more about layering, along with other great info.

No. One layer of sealant is all you need. But you need an hour between the next step...glaze or wax.

It was in the 40s for both cars so heat wasn't an issue. I thought I was going overboard a little bit. I just got rinseless so I will be diluting it for clay and waterless wash soon.

I figured it was contamination. I tried to get it as clean as possible but it had tar up one side and that's when I noticed it getting darker and darker. I've been trying to get stocked up on towels and pads. I bought some Harbor Freight pads until I can afford more expensive ones. I do have a set of Adam's that I will always start with. Thank you for the advice and compliment. I think this is my favorite picture from the weekend.

There's a very active racetrack near where I stay, so every weekend the place is full of Porsches, BMWs, Corvettes and the occasional Ferrari, but this is the first time I've seen anything so legitimately rare.  Hell, I think this might be the first time I've actually seen an R34 in real life.....

I always wear mechanics gloves while removing and installing wheels and just didn’t think of them when I was working.

We may be going to SEMA next year. I’ve started talking to my guys about it this week. If we do, I MIGHT be able to register one or two people who also want to attend. I don’t know how many spots we can get.

    Food for thought...

I really like Waterless Wash. I haven't even used it on a car yet. Regular DS is a classic. I like the USA DS and PS DS as well. I just like that we have different options so that we don't have to use the same scent all the time. I like to switch things up occasionally. I need to get to work. I have a gallon of Pumpkin Spice DS and I haven't even used half of my 16 oz bottle.

I guess I'll have to wait for them to put it on their site. I might check around with the local dealers and see if they have it. Thank you.

The rubber mat cleaner adds a little bit of shine to mats. It’s one of my favorite products for sure

I used tire and rubber cleaner on my all weather Kia Forte mats. It did amazing and they looked brand new. My question is what's next? As soon as I put my foot on them, it left a print. Can I use VRT to keep them looking clean or is that just the nature of the mat? I'd like them to be a little more shiny also as they are dull after being cleaned.
