  1. I’ve done some searching on here and I think I have a good idea of what I need. I’d like to get some confirmation though. First, I think they’re aluminum rims. I’ve noticed some oddities though. The barrels look like they have/had paint on them and it looks like there might be rust? I’ve been pretty aggressive with cleaning in the past but I want to get them looking amazing. A couple years ago, I scrubbed them front and back with steel wool and used aluminum polish in a green bottle (turtle wax maybe?). They looked better than they ever had. I could never get the “bullet holes” and bolt holes clean though. I’m thinking about using my dremel to get those areas as well as to smooth some knicks and chips. When it’s warm enough to keep water from freezing on the drive, I want to get started. My plan was to use wheel cleaner to get them as clean as possible. I’ve read that’s not good for “raw” aluminum. Is that what these are? If so, I’ll go with car shampoo. After most of the crap is off, I want to polish the “bullet holes” and bolt holes. Has anyone used a dremel for this? If so, what attachments are best? I’ve tried a mother’s ball/cone but it’s sort of textured in the holes and I could never get them clean and shiny. After I get the holes cleaned up, I think I could use the ball/cone to polish out the face. Should I try Adams metal polish or do I need something more aggressive? Would #1 and #2 be most effective? I’m trying to get the mirror-like finish. Then once I’m happy with them, I need them to stay that way. I’d say ceramic coating would my best bet. Would it be cheaper to pay someone to do it? The wheel coating kit is around $100. I think I’d be comfortable doing it myself but I might feel better having a pro do it just to make sure it’s done correctly and lasts.
  2. Yes! A million times yes. The magnet is a great idea. Great suggestion @ChristopherOrris24
  3. Not today but last weekend I got my desk mostly complete. After staining and many rounds of poly and sanding, I hit it with finishing polish and a coat of buttery wax. I have to cut out and stain/poly a couple small shelves but it’s now usable.
  4. I understand. I'm the same way. I wash my HGG towels as soon as possible regardless of how many I have. I keep those in a box away from everything else. Other towels just get tossed in a pile. I don't have a ton so it's not hard for me to separate but maybe over time you could color code towels for different tasks. I have some single and double softs for polishing and buffing. I use utility towels for interior and dirty jobs (jambs, wheels, etc.) My drying towels stick out like a sore thumb but I typically use HGG when drying so they don't get used a ton.
  5. This is one way to do it! Just wash towels by "task" and put them is the correct bin.
  6. I like that idea. I have thought about starting a thread for people in Indiana. It would make it easier for people to trade items also if they could meet in person. That would save shipping costs. This would also allow people to talk about local car meets/shows that might not otherwise get discussed.
  7. More pictures! Welcome to the forum. Beautiful car. There's a few others on here with em.
  8. Welcome! I live in Indy. What part of Indiana are you in?
  9. My order is on its way back to HQ 😔😭 Fedex squished it
  10. I had 4 Valentine's DS and Leather Air Fresheners, along with a bunch of other junk. I was looking forward to getting everything today.
  11. Hopefully we get the leather ones. They more than made up for not sending the grape ones but I was still looking forward to getting a few of the grape
  12. I ordered 3 a couple days ago. I'll let you all know if they come in. I ordered grape around Black Friday and I didn't receive them because they were sold out but still available on the site
  13. When we went to Florida for Christmas, my dad, brother, and I took my grandpa golfing for his birthday. We went to Eastwood Golf Course in Ft Myers. It was the first time that I had played golf and I think I've caught the bug. I've been to Golf Galaxy a few times to check out prices and crush a few balls. I'm hoping I can buy the extra bag that he let me use while we were down there so I have a solid start. Then when everything melts in Indiana, I hope to play some rounds and see if I can get any better.
  14. I applied glass sealant to two windshields before we left for Florida about a month ago. I believe it was in the low 40s. I cleaned with Glass Cleaner and applied sealant. I didn't have any issues. We didn't see any rain on the way down but after being there for a few days, it rained and the sealant appeared to work as expected.
  15. I washed one car on January 2 but then we drove 1,100 miles from Ft Myers. I want to go back. I could wash every morning if wanted to! The other car hasn't been washed since around Thanksgiving I'd say. It was fine until I drove on the interstate after a slushy snow and got those nasty racing stripes all over the front end.
  16. I have two disgusting cars. I can't wait for a few days for 40-50 degree weather so I can clean them up.
  17. Thank you, Chris. I don't have it as bad as some but it's -12 in Indianapolis. I had trouble pulling the door open at the office this morning because of the wind.
  18. "Guaranteed delivery" 🙄
  19. There's no need to was the car twice. You can just pick one. You'll want to use iron remover before claying. When polishing, always start with least aggressive and see if that gets you where you want. If not, go to the next least aggressive. You'll get plenty more responses but this will get you started. This has been discussed a lot on here so if you do a some searching, you can find many different processes along with reasoning behind everything.
  20. I'd like it if hardware stores carried the full line like what was posted on here a few months ago. I feel you here. I wasted a month trying to get a job at Autozone. The store manager had me keep coming in but when I was there, the hiring manager was "unavailable" I'm glad I didn't get a job there. I try my hardest to go anywhere but Autozone.
  21. Oh I see. I thought I saw earlier in the thread that you build the table. Maybe someone else built a table similar to that. I'll have to use BG once I get it finished.
  22. I building a desk and I want the top to be this shiny. The top of yours looks like 2x8s. I'm using 1x8s. I'm planning on staining and then poly. Did you use poly and if so, what kind and how many coats?
