stalebreadjr reacted to The Guz in Review - Adams UV Ceramic Coating and UV Spray Coating
I wrote this on another forum and I am going to transfer it here.

    Products:

    Adams UV Ceramic Paint Coating

    Adams UV Ceramic Spray Coating

    Adams Ceramic Boost

    Adams UV Light

    Short description of each product

Ceramic Boost is the maintenance product for the coatings.

    SiO2 infused
    Glazed Almond Scent
    3-6 months protection
Can be used on paint, chrome, plastic, wheels and glass.

UV Paint Coating is new for 2019 with the UV attribute. Essentially the UV light is used to see where the coating has been applied. Adams calls it their patent pending ceramic glow technology.

    9H
    5+ years protection
50ml does 2 full sized vehicles
Can be used on single stage, clear coat, vinyl wraps, trim, bed liners, headlights, tonneau covers, canvas tops, floor mats, plastic trim
    Temperature application 50 degrees
    Cure time 12-24 hours
    Max layers is 3
Can be seen with 395 UV light
Does not glow in the dark

UV Ceramic Spray Coating has been reformulated with the ceramic glow technology for 2019.

    Solvent based ceramic spray coating
    10-12 month durability
Can be used on paint, glass, headlights, tonneau covers, soft tops, chrome, trim, wheels, bed liners
    Max layers is 3
Can be seen with 395 UV light
Does not glow in the dark

UV light is used for the coatings. It is 396 NM with 100 LED UV Blacklights. Requires 6 AA batteries.

I applied to a silver hood which is my test panel for the product. Prepped with 3D ACA finishing polish and prep wiped with Americana Global Stripper.

Application is pretty straight forward. Same technique used for any other coating.

This is one where I just spread the product and it can be seen under the light.

I divided the hood into three sections. The ceramic boost does not contain the glow technology. So it will not show any change under the light.

After pulling the tape back we can see that both the spray and paint coating react to the light. You will notice the darkening effect is more pronounced for the paint coating under the UV light.

This is the transition point to the area where Ceramic Boost was applied.

From a distance the coated areas are clearly shown with the UV light.

Notice the over spray from misting onto the surface.

    Final thoughts on application:

From an application stand point the paint coating is pretty straightforward to use. Easy to spread out and easy to wipe off. Feels slick upon removal. It did take me a few extra passes to have even coverage of the coating. After that I understood how the product behaved at the temperature and humidity I was working with.

The spray coating is easy to work with. Simply mist the applicator and spread the product out. I misted on the panel and got a little overspray. This is always a concern and thus using an applicator is the best method to avoid over spray. It does not take long for it to flash for it to be wiped off.

The ceramic boost is very easy to work with. Simply wipe and wipe off. An easy product to maintain either of these coatings.

In terms of slickness it is ceramic boost, the spray coating and then the paint coating.

I was not sure how long the effect under the UV light stays around. But after reading more about the coating it appears that it will be visible under the UV light specked out by Adams. It will not be seen in the daylight or glow at night.

Overall it is a good way to see if the coating is applied to an area or the potential of a high spot being left behind. A good coating for anyone worried about those things especially first timers.

One thing about Adams is that their products are user friendly.

I can not comment on durability just yet. That test will come later.

It is an interesting characteristic and kudos to Adams for thinking outside the box to differentiate their coatings.

A couple application videos. Part 3 is a little long as it includes the application of the spray coating, ceramic boost and I share my final thoughts on application.

Super excited to say I finally have a 4Runner. I’m in the process in perfecting it. I’ll take some more after pictures today or tomorrow. I have extracted the carpets with my Bissell spot clean Professional (available on Amazon) that I got for Christmas and it is probably my best tool in my arsenal. And I have extracted the front seats. I pulled the seats out of the car and cleaned all the bolt cover trim pieces as well. I also disassembles the center console to get this as clean as I possibly can. Still have more to go, I will update as I do it. I will be coating someone soon if i can catch a warm day sooner or later. But for now here are some pictures.

With some nice mild temps and no rain for a few days, it was time to rid myself of the various dirt and aerosolized tar (paving a road .5 miles from me).

I ended up using the W&W soap today on the rest of the car, but for the wheels, it was still a multi-step process of using: T&R Cleaner, Eco APC and WC.

As some of you know, I replaced my old trusty Porta Cable with the Adams Swirl Killer 15 mm/  I arrived the other day along with some needed supplies, so today I decided to do a detail on the wife's 2018 Equinox.  Now it was in good shape seeing it is kept in the garage and we are both retired so it does not see a lot of driving, but the bulk of it seeing the other car is a Corvette so it see more time in the garage then her car.
So I started with a Strip Wash, then clay with the new Adams clay mitt.  Next I broke out the new SW and started with the white pad but after working a small area to test I decided to go with my orange pad.  So I use it along with the one step polish.  Next I went with the Ceramic Prep and finished with the Ceramic Spray Coating  I am going to let it sit over night and apply the Boost tomorrow.

Here are a few shots of the finished product.  Like I said the car was not in bad shape so any before pictures would just not have as shiny.

Oh man...nothing since October? Time sure flew by...Here is a Baby Yoda cake I made, all items from scratch...the outer shell is modeling chocolate (which is made from chocolate wafers/candy melts & corn syrup), frosting/filling was a very vanilla true buttercream (not american), eyes were gelatin (so could be eaten), and cake was a golden vanilla. He was 7 or 8 layers, 8" diameter at the base, and stood about 12-15" tall (I forgot to measure his height)!

Next time I am going to make lime cake with lime curd filling & vanilla buttercream!

Rinsed a weeks worth of salt off the SS.  Then I foamed it with Griots Garage Surface Prep Wash, rinsed it again. I then washed it using many MF wash mitts in a bucket of warm water and Adam’s Wash n Wax. Dried it using Adam’s Spray Wax as a drying aid. Adam’s Tire Shine on the winters then out in the sun for a quick pic.

My sisters 300 "Big Sal" is the latest hydrophobic car on the road courtesy of yours truly.  The new compound is nice to work with, ended up using that, polish, brilliant glaze and sealant. Did a full recon for her, sealed the windows and scrubbed 5 years of brake dust from the barrels. I owe her interior dressing and leather conditioner which I have yet to buy.

Finally got a chance to clean up the 'Nox. Just had time for a wash and application of glass sealant. There is a lot more that could be done...but this is a big improvement.

It's a great glass cleaner all around, in or outside the windows. Also works to remove high spots on recently applied, uncured coatings.

While they don't look to be the same as my son-in-laws, this is how his turned out after I coated them.  I have now done four different sets of wheels with a coating and am impressed on how the wheels turn out and how easy they clean up from the little brake dust that sticks to them.

If you don't know much about the Chevy SS.... It was manufactured in Australia from 2014 to 2017 as a Holden Commodore VF and imported by Chevy as the SS.  It's a sleeper rear wheel drive sedan with a 415 HP LS3 V8.    Lots of fun to drive.

@falcaineer, @TheWolf All to often we get new members that said they just found the forum or didn't know the forum existed.  Between the location of the forum listing under the About section at the bottom of the products page and no other advertising awareness, it it understandable.  Given how much that forum drives sales, increasing the participation would benefit the company as a whole.  I very much doubt that I would have gotten into the ceramic line or purchased a Swirl Killer without the vast information and communications via the forum.

Many times the new members refer to mystery boxes and it does seem to be a place that would could build participation by including a note about the forum.  Another place that could have a note about the forum is the invoices.  We know they are printed and placed in every order so why not add information about Adam's and the forum on the invoice when it is printed.

Think about how many people order via Amazon and may not even realize that Adam's has a plethora of products that are not even listed on Amazon and available. Adding a few words to the invoices should be rather easy and without expense since they are printed on plain paper.

I'm sure others have ideas on ways to help promote the forum and raise awareness, so please add your thoughts.

stalebreadjr reacted to The Guz in Adams Ceramic Black Trim Restorer Application on Faded Trim
    Product:
    Adams Ceramic Black Trim Restorer

    Description:

I picked this up at the local cars and coffee at the Anaheim location.

I had a front cowl that I picked up at a local salvage yard that I ended up using as it is a two piece design rather than a one piece design. It is a better design and allows for easier replacement of the cabin filter.

This ceramic trim restorer does two things with one product. It restores using the black dye while offering protection of a ceramic coating.

The trim piece was cleaned and prepped prior to application. Hard to capture the true condition of the trim.

    During the restoration process

Even used it on this plastic push pin that was pretty faded by the So Cal sun over the last 20 years.

    After. Much better

The trim after the application is black and has life after two coats of product.

The ceramic black trim restorer did a good job at restoring this trim piece. I will see how it holds up over the next few months. Application is straight forward. I would recommend wearing gloves to not get the dye on the hands.

If you have older trim that needs some restoration this will work. The plastic trim may need multiple applications. If the trim is newer then I would stick with the regular ceramic trim coating.

There is rubber on this trim price and I found that it can be streaky if used on rubber.  It absorbs differently into the rubber than plastic. Wiping the rubber helps to even out the coating applied to rubber.

    Welcome, VT Yeti!
I know where you are coming from!  While I have been a car guy for years, I really dove in to keeping my cars looking great and protected well this past year.  Like you, I was overwhelmed at first, but as Juan said, you are in the right place to learn!  Adam's Polishes produces premium products that outperform anything you are going to find at the big box stores or the auto parts stores.  The first time you get that amazing look to your vehicle after using Adam's products (and realize how much longer your vehicle will keep looking good), you'll appreciate the difference, and if you're like me, be hooked on keeping your vehicle looking great all the time!
And as far as learning what's what and how to use them, you'll find that you can typically find an answer by searching the forum or asking your question and getting replies from our fellow forum members.  I'll also add to Juan's comments above that if you are looking for a good general overview of things, Adam's has an excellent YouTube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzpvSWz3VFZpeFeitVsybWg.  That helped me a lot when getting started.

Hi VT welcome to the forum. You came to the right place to learn.

it may be helpful to understand what kind of protection is right for you.  See the thread below:

mu favorite protection is probably a ceramic coating. It’s very durable and lasts a long time.

It can be confusing for sure but to give you a quick typical process here are some steps

    1. clean wheels and tires, and if so desired, clean exhaust tips (chemicals which may fit into this category: wheel cleaner, tire and rubber cleaner, wheel and tire cleaner, eco wheel cleaner, all purpose cleaner, eco all purpose cleaner)
    2. wash whole car thoroughly with two bucket method (think about using strip wash and/or car shampoo)
    3. decontaminate (here’s where you use a clay bar or clay mit on all paint and glass, and a chemical that may help prior to claying is Iron Remover)
    4. Polish (use swirl killer system with one step, Polish, or compound liquids and associated pads to remove swirls, scratches, water spots, hazing, etc on your paint)
    5. Protect (use selected protection: wax, sealant, or ceramic coating)
