JDrach reacted to shane@detailedreflections in Ceramic Coatings ... what's the difference
Adams offers what’s referred to as a “consumer grade” coating. Meaning it can be purchased and installed by anyone. They’re usually more forgiving and may not have quite such a refined appearance. Adams is also a single layer coating.

GTechniq’s five year coating is called Crystal Serum Light - Black which is a coat of a base layer and two coats of a top layer. This would be a “pro-sumer” coating. By this it’s closer to a pro coating. This coating will provide a great finish and it’s one we have experience with.

Gtechniq’s nine year coating is Crystal Serum Ultra - Black. That’s a harder base layer and two layers of a top coat. The bond is quite strong and can require wet sanding to remove the coating if needed.

The pro grade coatings tend to be strong and more durable, and also harder to remove. This can mean they’re less forgiving to work with.

All of that being said, prep is everything with a coating. Consumer to professional. Poor prep will give you a poor finish. Great prep can make most any coating look great.

Different detailers all have our favorite coatings and products to work with. I know we have ours.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. It is unfortunate to see that Adams is turning into a company purely after the fads and profits. It absolutely is lame like Mariner said and Marty is exactly right, this is why I left Adams minus 1 or 2 products, for a company who isn’t just following the new hype and trying to make a clean profit.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I’ve been asking along with many other forum member for Gallons of ON for those of us who use a lot of it. To this day NOTHING but claims of it being worked on and tabled to make happen. Yet all these colabs seem to just “roll off the tongue” in how easy they are to make happen. Just saying Adams is no where near the company it was when it won my interest, not even close.

Except those "new consumers" are only here so their obscure clothing brand matches their even more obscure car detailing supplies, and they'll be outta here the minute it's time to move on to the next fad. Then you're left with a bunch of long-time, repeat customers you alienated to make a handful of extra sales to some clowns in ugly sweatshirts and skinny jeans.....

I always have RW diluted 16:1 to make WW, and like everyone else, I blast the bug guts, let it soak and spray them off! You could also use the standard wash pad in the front to try to get the bugs, and the merino mitt on the rest of the car, but the WW method works great, and APC will strip your wax just like a clay bar!

While I understand adams is busy shipping out a lot of orders during sales, I still dislike how long FedEx takes to move a package from one place to another. Packages can sit for uip to a day at the same location and their routes are the most indirect, non linear I have ever seen. Why go from Mideast Illinois, to Indianapolis, to Chicago....theyre very inefficient compared to UPS. I ever have some fed ex packages come from Tennessee to Wisconsin then back to the Chicago land region. Bafoons they are.

I honestly couldn't see a huge difference difference after I was done. There was some depth and slight clarity, but couldn't get a good look during the day for the next morning it was covered in pollen. Maybe that's the effect I'm seeing, is the past wax doesn't provide the beeding and protection in use to. I guess I'll have to buy GG. Hopefully LPS>Glaze>Americana then topping it off with GG every month along with detail spray every wash that doesn't include the GG isn't overkill.

I'm not going to take it too hard if nothing changes. In fact now that I see that a few people approve of it, I may just eat my words and try to upgrade even if I have free shipping.

This is what makes this forum so great is that we all have differing opinions so as long as everyone remains civil, solutions are usually found.

I like and use h2o gg during the warmer months every two or three washes it works great it's to cold now in New York to do a two bucket wash so I use a waterless or rinseless on my car and for the first time I used Adams ceramic boost also detail spray as a maintenance wipe down I'm retired so I have a lot of time to care for my cars it's therapy for me.for the next week it's not going to get over the freezing mark so cleaning the cars is not a option

JDrach reacted to KoryMiller340 in Rinseless Wash - Just used for first time
    All,
I just wanted to share my experience with the Rinseless wash.  As the title suggests, I just finished using it for the first time last night.  I have a 2016 Dodge Dart which I recently sealed with Adams Paint Sealant, in preparation for the winter months ahead.  With that being said, I just wanted to share my brief experience with the rinseless wash.

I followed the videos here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7dG0k0Aq-Q and  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKoV4olQEsI and added my own adaptation.  I own approximately 5 of the double soft towels.  I used all 5 of them on the dart.

    I ended up doing this:

1 - bucket with 2-3 gallons of warm water and a few squirts (1-2 oz, maybe a little more) of Rinseless wash
1 - bucket with 2-3 gallons of warm water and a grit guard
3 - double soft towels, submerged in rinseless wash
2 - double soft towels that I used for drying

I ended up reusing the three towels over the entire car.  I know this might surprise or shock some, but I was very careful to follow the directions in the first video (wiping and gently turning the towel upwards so that a clean section of the towel was always making contact with the panel).  You get about 8 different clean sides per towel each time you use it, so rather than getting about 10-15 towels out, I would just use all 8 sides of my towel, stick it in the clean bucket with the grit guard and go to town on cleaning it thoroughly and ringing it out.  I would then stick it back into the rotation with the other towels in the rinseless wash bucket.

As for drying, I took the clean double softs, and sprayed detail spray over the panel I would be drying, that way I was adding some lubricity as well as some shine while drying the car.

I did this in my garage, and it took me about 2 hours or so (from start to finish including prepping the buckets).  From what I can see, I did not introduce any swirls or scratches into the paint, and I'm very happy with this product thus far.

I just wanted to share my experience, maybe see what others thought.  It does take some getting used to, but I'm hoping this will be a good product to use during the winter here.

Please share your thoughts, ideas, comments, etc.

So how would ceramic boost go among with h20 GG? I feel like they are the same concepts, a spray able sealant, but contain different ingredients. I don't understand their applications, why choose ceramic boost over h20 GG or vice versa when no ceramic coating is on the vehicle.

A clayed, clean surface makes all the difference on how water acts upon a surface I know that for sure. When it dried on me though (the soapy wash and wax) it dried with i'd say no spotting at all so that's a plus. Also seems to make good use of repelling rain water from soiling the outside better than before.

Gallon will last you all year. Once you realize how much is needed per panel you'll learn to be more conservative for a little goes a long way. And the 8oz sealant is pricey but again, does a phenomenal job and again....a little goes a long way. Maybe have done 4 cars (my grand prix, a new impala, new odyssey, and a juke) and small panels for demonstration on friends cars, and have a little more than half a bottle.

Use paint sealant, then use h20 GG/Detail spray every other wash. I swear my car has never been so slick, glossy, shiny, and expel water than using all of these. I also throw a coat of Buttery Wax on when I get that waxing itch and want my car to have a little more pop to it for the week or so.

I used this while doing a customer's car yesterday. I put around 4 to 6 ounces in my gun and 2 in a bucket. Was much easier to work with than regular soap by adams, I loved how it dried virtually spotless while this black car baked in the sun and I used my soapy mitt to clay bar. Between watering n foaming the car as I moved about clay baring, it really did dry with virtually no spots like in the promo video. Protection wise, I'm skeptical however with the whole "wash and wax"

I have a client who uses this as his daily driver and it lives outside 24/7.  Needless to say, it needed a little love from the good doctor at Autodermatology.

A two-step correction was on deck along with a minor interior cleanup, and of course the wheels were hammered.

As you will see below, the majority of the products I used were from Adam’s Polishes.  I wanted to give them another shot and see what kind of results could be achieved from his products, mainly the compounds/polishes/pads.  I currently use a few of his products-glass cleaner, tire dressing, APC, wheel cleaner, etc on a regular basis. So, I wanted to see if these were up to the task for professional use.

Manly machines:  Rupes nano iBrid longneck, and a 15mm longthrow.

Pads: Rupes 1” and 2” pads.  Adam’s Polishes orange (heavy) and white (light) cutting/polishing pads.

Chemicals:  Wolfgang auto bathe, SCG Pro strip wash, Kenotek anti-insect, Adam’s deep wheel cleaner, Adam’s APC, Adam’s tire and rubber cleaner, Adam’s glass cleaner, Adam’s TID interior, Adam’s VRT for tire dressing.

LSP: undisclosed sealant that I am beta testing.

    Vacuum via Metro.

    Misc microfiber towels were used.

Tuff shine tire brush, Daytona speedmaster and other misc brushes.

    Clayed via nano wash mitt.

I found the paint in atrocious condition: Swirls, scratches, haziness, water spots/streaks, etc.  It was poor to say the least.

The wheels/tires have never been touched since the dealer slung some greasy dressing on them a few thousand miles ago.

The paint was pretty soft and corrected easily.  I was happy with the results I was achieving with the products/system I was using.

End result:  I believe I breathed new life into this Procharged beast!!  My client was stunned with the results and said he knew it was very bad on drop off.

Doctor Scott at Autodermatology had another successful surgery!!!

    Thanks for looking!!!
