Tyler has your pad-to-product question sorted, but wanted to remind everyone that you should use the least aggressive method possible.
Mark off a 2 ft. x 2 ft. section with painters tape, usually on the hood or trunk lid.  Start with the white pad and finishing polish to see if that gets you the desired results.  If not happy, do that combo again before stepping up to the next, more aggressive combo - orange pad + Correcting Polish.  And the same with CP before stepping up the Heavy Correcting Compound.
Clear coat is thin, so leave as much as possible!

Try a clay bar first, but they may need machine polishing to completely remove them.

Not a manual but it has paddle shifters, which are actually pretty responsive. Its a 2018 Charger R/T. Got a good deal on it, and unlike all of my other options, it still has a warranty, which I like.

I have multiple practice vehicles, but I don't tell the children that I use their vehicles for testing.  The kids are always happy, they get free detailing along with touch ups and I get to learn about the products and usage methods.  My wife's car also gets some testing, only because she get any new products used on her car first, but I'm real careful on that one.

As for the variances in the paint, I am finding more variance between the years than between the manufacturers. We have red vehicles from 1994 - 2017 and many manufacturers, Chevy, Ford, Lexus, Mazda, Range Rover, Subaru and Toyota.  Nearly every vehicle is Red, so that does help level the field for learning the products and comparing the differences.  I'm not sure you would get the same comparison if you were trying different chemicals/techniques on a White and Black panel to compare.

2018 Corvettes at Carlisle is in the books. Couldn't have had better weather. Warm sunny days and cool nights and mornings. Never got above 83 and in 16  years of going, it had to be the best weather we ever had, hands down.  Here's a few pics from the event, people, and Adam's party  Friday night. Good times, good friends, great memories.  And I FOUND WALDO  in the second pic!! See him!
Post up your forum names if you're in the pics!

Anything can happen. I would have done the plumbing and electrical repairs myself but the seller got quotes and the title company wrote checks to the contractor. I wish the check would've been written to myself and I could chosen whether I wanted to pay someone or do it myself. We actually did get a home warranty. Our service fee is $65. Something is wrong with the ice maker in our fridge so I will be calling on them for that. Also, our dryer wasn't getting hot. I googled the dryer and the issue and found out that it was a $30 repair. I'll definitely see if it cheaper to fix myself but if it looks like its going to be more than my service fee, I'll let someone else deal with it.
Thank you! That equipment looks stout. It is also easy to use and reasonably priced. I'll have to look into that. That would be easier and prettier than just sandwiching 2x4s together.

It was the p-trap. On the quote that the seller got, it said the plumber would cut exploratory holes in search of the leak and the repair would be $250-500. The ceiling was clearly wet so I went ahead and cut it open and was just going to ask the plumber what he thought while he was there. He ended up fixing it. The plumbers also wanted $325 to replace the kitchen faucet. I told them not to worry about it and I ordered a new faucet for $80. There are a few things I wouldn't be comfortable doing but I am pretty handy and I like feeling accomplished after fixing something, either around the house or on the cars. And speaking to the hole in the garage ceiling, I also have to make more holes to install my lights so I'll probably just wait and repair everything at once. The drywall in the garage is in bad shape anyway.
We got a Rustoleum cabinet painting kit from Menards. It was around $70 and came with deglosser, base coat, optional decorative glaze, and the top protective coat. No sanding, just a lot of scrubbing and cleaning to prep the surface. It looked amazing and I was one coat away from being done with the base coat. Hopefully the doors will dry out and be fine. I try to avoid staining because I never seem to get two different pieces to match correctly. It looks great when its done right though.

Bingo, you got it Jim. The seller hired a company to fix a few electrical and plumbing issues and they couldn't get scheduled before we closed so they just wrote checks. They guys did the work on Thursday. I didn't have water when I went over Thursday night and when I came back Friday after work, that is what I saw when I walked it. The water shut offs in the kitchen upstairs began leaking at some point. I don't know how or when the water came back on between Thursday evening and Friday evening. The plumber must have tried to use the shut offs when he tried to rebuild the kitchen faucet. I'm guessing turning them caused the old, brittle seals to go bad and they began leaking. The plumbing company is covering some (they better cover all) of the damage. There was a water restoration company out this morning and they checked walls, floors, and cabinets and found moisture in almost all of the kitchen floor. All of the lower cabinets contained moisture. It sounded like a lot of it would be able to be dried and salvaged but they said all of the lower cabinets would likely need to be replaced. We have to be out of our current place by 9/13 so this should be a pain in my rear for the next 2 weeks. Fingers crossed everything moves quickly.

Until I used Iron Remover on all the vehicles, I didn't how much iron, rail dust, etc., was on each vehicle.  The Malibu wasn't bad, the Colorado had a bit more, the CX-5 a bit more and the Range Rover is always nasty.  I know part of the problem with the Range Rover is the brake pads, they have got to be change to something better, but the amount that accumulates on the vehicle is crazy.  I 've also found that a bottle does seem to go a long way.

As for the wife's involvement, she's a co-dependent.  She tells me when there are sales, she makes sure the orders are always $100 or more to prevent the shipping charges.  This is also why I make sure my wish list always has plenty of products in it.  Unless I tell her I need someone, she picks items off the wishlist that are on sale and orders - I have a wonderful wife, and yes I keep her car spotless.

I agree with @RayS on the separation of the towels. My seperation is about the same as well, I have also taken to using some vinegar once and a while in my loads to help with things. Primarily I use MFR and the Tide free liquid.

If you are looking for something that will make either vehicle really pop for that special evening, get a bottle of Brilliant Glaze.  It only lasts a few days at best on the exterior, but for a Saturday Date night or special event, on top of the wax or HGG, it gives the Wow effect.  Also, check out the video on using it on the inside of your windshield.    For the outside of the windshield, the Glass Sealer and Glass Boost work very well and while the bottles look small they will last you a long time.

Good luck with your vehicles and don't forget to share your pictures.

Thanks for jumping in here Emery! Indeed it has been a little crazy for Emery, Tyler, and myself to keep up with things. I was out supporting Hot August Nights two weeks ago, and now I'm at Corvettes at Carlisle (we just finished dinner for the evening), so that puts even more strain on an already understaffed team.

I am very sorry for the inconvenience if anyone has been trying to get through to us. I will be back in the office Monday morning and will help to alleviate some of the phone frustrations. Please bear with us during these growing pains, and let us know how we can help.

@shane@detailedreflections is right, and she was a clean car, and to the eye the interior looked clean. Even the owner was surprised at what came out of those carpets.

Also I had my new Challenger extraced by Shane and Marquis, only 3k on the clock when they saw it and it was still a bit of a green tea colored water after they were done with the fronts. Ill be back again for sure to have them keep up on it and keep those smells, mold, mildew, and other junk out of my carpets!

Carpet care...a million ways to do the same job. Carpet and upholstery cleaner work well, as does APC on some stubborn stuff.

As for equipment, what’s your budget?  We use a shop vac, MyTee hot water extractor and a vapor chief steamer. We also use a tornador tool, air compressor and master blaster revolution and/or sidekick.

One variable is “what’s clean to you?” At a clinic we hosted (and @pirahnah3 and @ZMAN024 can attest) we took a clients garage queen car that was “clean” and extracted his carpets. The water that came out of the extractor looked like coffee. Sometimes surface clean isn’t “clean” and the equipment doesn’t lie. We can get the majority of things out with a combination of our tools and the right chemicals. The tools are the far larger and more expensive side of that equation though.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
It's amazing how much time is consumed raising kids, but it's the most rewarding thing I've ever done... I couldn't be prouder of my boys.

My son is another reason I'm here. My oldest is driving now (recently bought him a used car), so I figured it was something we could do together as he learns how to care for his car.

When I decided to order some car care products and tools, and first came across Adam's I wasn't really sure about it.  My first thought was "this stuff is expensive" (in comparison to the big brands like Mothers or Meguiars). Then as I started to learn more about the brand and company I could see what made them special. To me Adams Polishes is reminiscent of a craft beer micro brewery... you're gonna pay a little more for your favorite craft beer, but you're also going to enjoy it that much more. That's what I'm hoping Adams will be, and I'm really looking forward to it.

The test spots can tell you a lot and if you are unsure with the first test spot do a second one.  In the case of the Mustang, I spent a half hour doing the two test spots and I stopped since I knew I had a major paint issue and it required expertise.  After contacting the painter, I was given some simple instructions of what not to do, such as Wax, Coat, etc., as it just results in more work for them to prepare the car for painting.
