shmedley reacted to Rich in This Adam's employee deserves KUDOS (Dan Tyger)
I'm Rich's wife, so please forgive me for stealing his thunder for a minute, but I had to share with you something that happened last night to one of your own, Dan Tyger.  I have to tell you how much I admire what he and his friend did and that it takes a special kind of person to do this.  If Dan is an example of all of Adam's employees, then for sure we'll never switch loyalty.  It takes a high moral character and a sense of decency to do what he did, and it deserves to be recognized.  I hope you'll forgive me for doing this Dan, but you deserve a big pat on the back and be prepared for hug when I see you again.

This was on Facebook last night

"Riding back home on 43 tonight, the last thing we expected to find standing in the middle of the right lane was a stray dog - cold, wet, scared, and possibly injured. We stopped the truck and she slowly walked right over to the driver side doors whimpering. Without hesitation Guzzo says "ok come on around to the back, we're getting you out of here so no one hits you." She was scared and hesitant for 10 seconds or so, and then he says "well do you want to stay here or get out of here?" and she slowly hopped into the back cargo area of the suv.
We pull a u-turn and head to cheat lake animal shelter, calling them that we're on the way. I was petting her head to try to calm her down and then she finally sat down, hiding her head in a hoodie in the back. That section of 43 is a little bumpy, so I'm not sure if she got car sick or more scared, but she took a huge poo right on the carpet one minute before we got there, which brought a few laughs to a scary situation.
She's not chipped, no collar, and seems like a loving but scared puppy. Once she calmed down a little at Cheat Lake, she was very well behaved and almost instantly responded to "sit" and "give me paw" requests. It saddens me if someone dropped her off on an empty stretch of highway before the tollbooth, so deep down I'm hoping someone is at home worrying about their missing dog right now. Sorry for the poo in the one picture, sure made for a night we won't forget...wow that was some radioactive smelling poo...thank goodness for Adam's Odor Neutralizer in the glove box. Time for sleep, long day tomorrow, please say some prayers that this doggie finds her owner!"

shmedley reacted to BRZN in Ceramic Coating on Raw Aluminum Wheels
I've ceramic coated the wheel barrels and back of the spokes, but not the faces. I've never been able to be 100% satisfied with the wheels outward appearance and don't want to hinder myself from polishing them. I wipe the wheels down after every drive with a very liberal amount of Waterless Wash using an individual Waterless Wash specific towel on each wheel. The brake dust does come off the ceramic coated portion of the wheels much easier than the faces and no new marring is seen from their wipe downs in the barrels.

How to prep for coating them? Polish to your satisfaction and then follow the instructions as for any other wheel type.

Hi Jeffrey! Our Ceramic Wheel Coating works great on raw aluminum wheels. Adam coated the aftermarket wheels on his Porsche (that you may have seen in the background of a few of our videos) several months ago prior to the release of the coating and they're still holding up quite well.

You would have to make sure to polish them as well as possible first, and then follow the instructions included with the Wheel Coating Kit

First things first, thank you to TheWolf for coming up with a clever way to name a thread...I hope you don't mind that I'm borrowing it!!!

It's been far to long since I've posted something!  Finally had a beautiful weekend day here in Maryland (60+ degrees in February!!) so we all know that means its time to head to the driveway and clean some cars!!

Big change for this year is I've also moved to a new and different vehicle, the Jeep SRT <3!!  I absolutely love it, even thought its like 2x more to clean than my old S5.

Didn't really do anything special today, just a routine maintenance wash and re-upped on my H20 Gloss and Guard.  Also tackled the interior with some amazingly scented peppermint TID!!!

Here are some before and after pics the SRT!

My winter tip for those that like to rinse off the under carriage of there vehicles. Just get a garden sprinkler that shoots upward and set it under your vehicle. Also, let it spray in that area of the underside and move around as necessary. Attached is a picture for reference.

I build cars in my spare time in my hobby garage-currently working on a '48 Cadillac Sedanet (fastback) and a '63 Chevy Impala SS...currently drive a '55 Cad (below) -all over the country going rod running I might add. Happy to be here...

shmedley reacted to Focus_Red in Another Odor Neutralizer Review (and request)
I have to say, I'm very impressed by this product. The Odor Neutralizer (ON) is, simply put, effective.

I ordered two 16oz bottles as soon as they were released. I considered the 4oz option, but just felt like it was a tad expensive per oz. for my liking. I ended up trying these out in my house first. I had two tests:

#1) The wife test. I always show her how good all Adam's products smell (save a few *cough* wheel cleaner *cough*). She is always amazed. When I told her I had the new ON, she was initially worried that it would "cover up" the bad smells with a much stronger, perhaps more pleasant, smell. When I opened the bottle and had her smell it, she instantly was surprised that the smell wasn't crazy strong. In fact, before testing it she said she wanted to start using it around the house simply because it smelled nice and fresh.

#2) The actual odor test. Given that it was around Halloween, we had some pumpkins in the house that had, lets just say, gone horribly bad. The smell was putrid and I was quite concerned I would have to live with the smell for quite some time even after removing the pumpkins. So I figured this would be a perfect test for the ON. I sprayed two-three full pulls of the trigger into the room. I then sprayed one or two more directly to where the pumpkins had been. Admittedly I believe this was too much as the smell of the ON was a little strong for the first 10 minutes. However, the putrid rotten pumpkin smell was GONE and after those first 10 minutes or so, the ON smell was barely noticeable. COMPLETELY. And furthermore, it has never returned.

My wife couldn't believe it and immediately stole one of my 16oz bottles to keep in the house. I've since used it in her car, and mine and the results are the same. It's removed all sorts of smells from an oily vapor smell in the air, to dirty diapers. Adams truly nailed this product.

    My ONE request....

MAKE IT AVAILABLE BY THE GALLON PLEASE!!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving I am Giving away a couple products, BUT, rather than just the "First" one to reply, PM me your interest in the item and I will put them into a random generator to give them away. I would ask that if possible that you cover shipping for them.

I will run this thru Sunday night (Midnight Eastern time) and pick someone from the list Monday. This way you can have it by thanksgiving for a detail before winter if you wish.

So what is this item you might ask?

I have 2 Visco Clay refills to give away. Yes they will be going to different people, so all you who say you miss these too often here is a chance!

shmedley reacted to PHOKUS in New Glass Towels
Glass is a particularly interesting topic of detailing to me. As such, I spend a lot of time researching the 'whys' and 'hows' of glass cleaning and optic clarity.

The number one and two questions friends and customers ask me is, "How do you get my windows so CLEAN?" and "Why did my windows get so dirty so quickly??"

I've stated before that the real issue is not on the outside, but on the inside. Of course some people just have sticky (dirty) outer glass and the contaminants are incredibly deep in the pores of the glass and difficult to remove. But most of the complaints of dirty and streaky glass come from what's on the inside glass.

Adam's glass towels are sticky on dirty glass for a reason. The thousands of microfibers on the piled side of the new Glass Towels are slipping in and out of the pores of the glass, grabbing contaminants as you move the towel. For the detailer, this should be an immediate clue that the glass needs decontaminated and the glass pores sealed.

For outside glass, the process required to decontaminate depends on the type of decontamination. On new cars, the culprit is almost always rail dust/industrial fallout. I would start with a wheel cleaner to dissolve any iron, rinse, strip wash, rinse, then clay, wash and rinse, then glass polish, wash and rinse, dry, then seal. The sealant will last for MUCH longer as well, provided you follow standard paint protection maintenance (don't use harsh chemicals to wash). I have had glass sealant last for as long as 2 months on freshly decontaminated glass.

Inside glass can usually be decontaminated using any organic-based soap. Dish soap is commonly used. I have also had very good luck using diluted Adam's Car Shampoo in distilled water. Inside glass can be sealed and I recommend it after decontamination as it makes subsequent cleaning that much faster and easier.

As to the question about why inside glass gets so dirty so quickly...well it's a dirty topic. Off-gassing, environmental factors such as sunlight and ambient temperatures, poor HVAC filtering, rolling down windows, and most notably, the occupants, all contribute to dirty automobile interiors and glass.

Human beings, as it turns out, are filthy creatures. We shed skin, we perspire, we breathe and cough, and we sneeze. All normal functions, but each of these functions plays a role in how quickly your inside glass (and every other surface) gets contaminated. The oils and moisture we expel from our bodies adhere to the interior surfaces and glass very well. These contaminants build up until we notice them and try to clean the glass. In my daily driver, it takes about a week before I notice the cloudiness in my interior glass. Yeah, like I said. FILTHY, we are!

The new Adams Glass Towels are certainly effective. But they are most effective when the same mentality is applied to glass maintenance as is taken with paint maintenance. Right tool, right chemical, right process, and your glass will come out perfect every time.

    Edited for clarity.

shmedley reacted to Mariner in Odor Neutralizer Review
So I'd like to be the first one to jump in with a formal review. I received my Odor Neutralizer today and immediately took it outside to test.  I sprayed some into the AC intake vent and let it recirc in my car for a few minutes, and also sprayed each seat and floor mat.

Let me tell ya'll, if you haven't bought some yet, do it. I'm very critical of pretty much everything with a premium price tag, but Adam's really nailed this one. I'm extremely impressed.

First of all, it smells good if you just sniff the bottle, so that's always a good sign. Now my SUV is only about 5 months old, but I do have two very active dogs. They're always getting wet, sandy, you name it, and my SUV undoubtably has a musky dog scent to it. Well, it did anyways. I hopped into my car tonight to go out for drinks after testing the product at about 1300 ET this past afternoon, and it still has a slight scent of the Odor Neutralizer. No dog smell, whatsoever.  Again, I find the scent of the ON to be very pleasant.

I plan on heading the range early tomorrow morning, so I'll update this post accordingly, but I really think Adam's has a winner here. I'm hoping it's offered in the gallon size very soon, as I could most definitely use this around the house.

Thumbs up for Adam's chemists and engineers on this one. Thanks for another great product.

    Thanks for reading,
    Dustin
