SS LeadFoot
So my wife and I got a Nissan Murano last October. This being my first SUV I am noticing that it is a PITA to wash the top. Besides getting a step stool or a ladder how do you guys reach the top?
0 hemi1300
I always use a 2 or 3 step stool on my dodge ram and the wife's cherokee. Not a big deal for me, guess I am used to it since I have had trucks my whole life and always used a step stool
0 Captain Slow
Unfortunately you either have to get taller, get a work platform or use a competitor's wash mitt on a pole thingie. I've done just that with my wife's old TBSS, Booboo van and the new Beast with no issues. Slippery step ladders and I are an accident waiting to happen. 0 Audog
I use a work platform that I got at Lowes on sale, works great for SUV roofs
0 LT1xL82
Truth be known, I've skipped washing the roof of my 3/4 ton Suburban more times than I can count. Captain Slow, mc2hill and Audog
0 stripesace
black friday special. I have two. one for each side. I wish they were just a tad longer because if I don't get them placed EXACTLY right, I end up having to move them.... The roof of this car has never been polished.... I do clay and seal it though. too much dang real estate. These platforms gave me the extra reach I needed when polishing the roof on my Camry. 0 SS LeadFoot
That looks dangerous. I agree with captain slow. If there is a way to get hurt it would probably happen to me lol. Captain Slow
0 chops1sc
I use this MF pad on a stick. FJF and Captain Slow
0 James__
I wash the back half of my cab by standing in the bed of my truck and wash each of the front quarter standing in their respective door jamb so I am close and don't have to worry about scratching the paint. I always save the interior portion of my regimine for last (often the next day) so I can clean where my dirty shoes were.
0 Ricky Bobby
Step stool as has been mentioned. I gave a 2 rung ladder which I have to use on my wife's car (Jetta Sportwagen) because I'm only 5'7". I would never use a wash pad on a pole but that's just me, I don't care how big the truck is.
0 mc2hill
I use the previous mentioned Werner work platform, the step bars, or as Joel said 'just leave it for next time!'. Audog
0 pirahnah3
I use one of these, Nice and large step to stay on too. They have them in 1, 2, 3, and even 4 step versions. https://www.zoro.com/dpi-step-stand-2-steps-polyethylene-black-st217-01/i/G9995736/
0 Rich
I used to just open my door and stand on the doorsill. Soap it up and wash it, shut the door, and hose it off. Did that for many years. Kingsford and Dan@Adams

0 sahls01gmc
Doorsill for me as well. I'm gonna detail those anyways, so might as well stand on them and not risk slipping on a ladder. It helps that I'm 6' 2'' as well. Kingsford
0 jeffo65
I will stand on the top of tires at time and other times use a step stool.
0 ragin_cajuns
3 step ladder. Pain in the a**. I have to use it on my truck and my wife's Pathfinder. Constantly moving the ladder. I was thinking about on of those microfiber pads on the telescoping stick.
0 chops1sc
I got mine from Amazon. I actually have 2 so I always have a backup. Search this on Amazon: Microfiber Dip and Wash Tool
0 Dan@Adams
I will usually open the door and stand on the door sill and wash that section of the roof. For the section behind the doors on large suv's or a truck with the cap on the bed, I will use a step stool to step up onto the tire and then clean that way, holding onto a roof rail with one hand for support if the vehicle has one. If the rear bumper has a step area, I will use that as well, just be careful not to slip off anywhere and hurt yourself or put a knee into a panel and dent it. 0 chops1sc
I picked this little ladder up from Harbor Freight a few weeks ago. I use it to dry the tops of our vehicles. Very nice! http://www.harborfreight.com/two-tier-step-ladder-chair-67514.html
0 CMDChase
I use a work platform you can pick up almost anywhere for about $30. I would suggest a 4 foot long one. I have a 3 footer and it's just a little short.
