Yes, keep the tools. You won't get a lot for them anyway. The PC still serves a primary mission as a sander, and also works great with a brush tool for carpets.

Keep your tools. You can never have too many.

You can use a pad cleaning brush to help remove the residue build up on the pads. A terry cloth towel could also be used on the pad face to remove some of the residue.

I just bought myself the Rupes mini. It's sitting under the tree. The struggle is real. I'm sure I'm going to love it though.

That Dylan is a wise one!
He's like the Yoda of detailing...

Jason S. got a reaction from Black Bowtie in Holiday blues
Was busy doing a detail for a friend today while the wife was out doing some last minute shopping. I was wiped out, and then she brings me home this little gift:
Using Adam's advice, "never polish angry", we went to dinner so I could recharge. I planned to tackle in the morning, but when I got home I just couldn't resist. I gave it 2 hits of waterless wash, then had to really get after it with the visco clay, which removed about 90% of the paint transfer. I felt really good about getting back to normal because there appeared to be no body damage and the area was really smooth to the touch, so I figured the clearcoat was still intact.
Had to un-box the Rupes mini that was under the tree and give it a go. I used the heavy correcting compound and a 4" microfiber pad, followed by PCP, and finishing polish with the white foam pad. Topped it off with a layer of LPS. Got it nearly perfect, minus 2 leftover small scratches, but you just have to know when to say "enough is enough".
After photos:
Pretty lucky it wasn't worse.

If you have any BG you can use the solvent at the top of the bottle after it has set a while and before it's shaken up.
Use it with a MF pad, it will do the trick.

Jason S. got a reaction from b_pappy in Metal Polish #1
Did a detail this weekend for a neighbor and got a chance to break out the metal polish. Great stuff! And I didn't even really spend a lot of time working it due to time constraints. It is super easy to apply and remove and has tremendous upside. I think it can take your detail to another level. My customer was blown away!

Works for me also...but what do you use for tree sap removal?

Jason S. got a reaction from b_pappy in 1st Revive use
Ever used revive with a machine? I would imagine it might pair well with the white foam pad, but I've never tried it.

Jason S. reacted to shane@detailedreflections in It finally happened! Clearcoat strike through!
Food for thought what would happen if you put a ceramic coating on? Would that make it less noticeable and acceptable? I don't know the answer to that one.
Seeing things like this though reinforce that I made a good decision in investing in a coating thickness meter. Repeated measurements can help prevent these incidents.
Hopefully you can make it acceptable or get a reasonable quote for repair from a body shop. Best of luck.

Jason S. got a reaction from ocdrifter in Waffle Weave Microfiber Drying Towels
Love the GWDT. But I'm very particular about my towels and never use them in really dirty areas. I have specific towels (Target brand) just for door jambs and hatch areas & stuff. That way my good adams towels don't get too contaminated with dirt. I also try and avoid washing my polishing towels with washing/drying towels. As you can infer, I'm quite concerned about cross contamination. I also use the sidekick blaster, but that's not a great tool for blowing and entire vehicle dry.

Revive is a very overlooked product in the Adams lineup, but I use it all the time.

Jason S. got a reaction from Norton in LPS failure
I would say, just because the water isn't beading, it doesn't necessarily mean the sealant isn't there. What has changed is the surface tension. Water beading (and sheeting) is all about surface tension. Typically, the last thing you apply is what dictates the surface tension. You could apply a ceramic coating and then top it with something that changes the surface tension and changes the hydrophobic qualities. Honestly, even if you apply LPS and then remove it immediately, there's still going to be some level of bonding and curing. This is a little baffling though. Are you using any non-Adams products after application at all?
