SumBeach35 reacted to Kourtney@Adams in Ceramic Coating On Vinyl Wrap
Hey guys, Its been a while since i've posted on the forums but I wanted to share this with everyone. I had a customer who put Adam's ceramic coating over his vinyl wrapped car.

    Here is his review:
"Let me start off this review by saying this is another must have product from Adams polishes for any amateur or professional detailer alike! I recently had the pleasure of receiving the new Adams polishes ceramic coating and I can say without a doubt after using the "compilation" in the past before finding out about Adams polishes that this is the easiest the apply and most hydrophobic ceramic coating I've ever used! It was shipped to me in a very nice looking, professional box set with very easy to understand direction. I recently had my car vinyl wrapped and wanted to keep it looking it's best while also making it earlier to clean with my busy work schedule. While following the directions step by step I was blown away how easy this was to apply, and how fast the cure time was so this didn't have to be a all day project. After letting the car cure in the garage I could already tell a huge difference in how much gloss and shine I gained in the wrap.. and then I applied the ceramic boost that was supplied in the kit and was absolutely blown away! Now washing the car takes half the time clean and get ready for upcoming shows thanks to the Adams ceramic coating. Water just beads up and falls right off the car effortlessly. After showing friends how much gloss it added and easy it makes the car to clean they both ordered their kits. The best part is i still have enough left to coat my other vehicles! Overall I give this a 10 out of 10 and really look forward to trying the Adams polishes wheel ceramic coating and glass coating now that I see how well this performs " - Aaron Day

The coating dries fairly fast and the vinyl absorbs more product because it is soft and porous unlike paint. Just wanted to share incase anyone was curious how easily its applied to vinyl.

The solvent in the BG cuts any nasty stuff on the glass.  Seems new glass is the worst, but once I use Brilliant Glaze on the interior, it's a breeze to clean!

This is great input, and we are listening....  New Glass Cleaner is coming.... And I must say, treating the glass first is what I do on every car I clean.

    1. Brilliant Glaze on interior glass.
    2. Clay and Glass Sealant on Exterior Glass.
    3. Easy time cleaning with a mist of Waterless Wash and a Waterless Wash Towel on all glass, once treated.

    Time for a video!

Welcome. I'm also from Connecticut as well. Nice to see more people taking an interest in their detailing. There are a few questions that need to be asked in order to guide you. Are you looking to just do a "wash and wax?" Or are you looking more to prep your new truck and prepare it for the elements?

My routine for new vehicle prep is:

    - Strip wash to remove all waxes on the vehicle
    - Decon the paint with Wheel Cleaner
    - Clay the paint and windows
    - Polish any parts you feel need polishing (may not be needed)
    - Glaze the vehicle
    - Seal the vehicle
    - Two thin coats of wax of your choice.
    - Glass sealant on windshield.
    - Seal the wheels as well with Paint Sealant, H2O Guard & Gloss or Quick Sealant (if you can find it)
    - Any interior treatments and dressings (Leather Conditioner if the seats are leather, etc).

Then for maintenance, you can use the Wash & Wax or regular wash and some H2O Guard & Gloss. This will help your vehicle last through the winter. You can pick and choose steps as you want and they apply to you, but different steps offer different cosmetic appearances and levels of protection. The best protection steps are the sealant and the waxes.

You really can get as wild as you'd like, or as basic as you'd like. That's a choice that's up to you. Most of the people here are here because we tend to be more on the "wild" side of the equation. When I detail for others, I always want to put out a solid product and that's the work flow I typically choose (plus or minus a few things depending on the job).

The other option is to ceramic coat your truck and then you'll simply wash it when you want and add a boost every few months. Simple maintenance. Not so simple installation as it requires a superb prep for best results. It's not impossible, just know what you're getting into when you start the process.

Congrats on the truck and welcome. Feel free to ask any other questions you have!

Personally, for a matte black finish, I've been using only the tire and rubber cleaner.

I've yet to use the Adams tire shine but with VRT, I'll apply it liberally then after 5 minutes go and wipe it off with an old microfiber. Cuts down on the sheen.

why not correct it one more time and do a ceramic paint coating.  should add a bit of swirl resistance and add shine as well

I believe I'm smelling troll. Considering this is your first post and it's just to bash. You should contact Adam's customer service(the best customer service hands down) and let them resolve this issue for you. If that doesn't work (which it will), then by all means come back to this thread and rant on.

My feeling is if I need to polish a car, I'll use clay alternatives, due to their tendency to mar the paint. if I dont need to polish I'll use regular clay

To add to LT1's thoughts.... don't be afraid to experiment with settings and products.  That's half the fun!

I'd use a little less product; more like 1 oz max in the mix bottle.   A couple of squirts, really.  Add water first, then shampoo.   Use warm/hot water in the mix bottle for better results when cold outside.

3000 psi is almost overkill for car washing.   That will add plenty of air to the cannon and produce a nice thick foam.

Test out a few shampoos to see what you like best.   I have maybe 7-8 shampoos on hand and all perform differently with a foam cannon.  There are snow foams that are formulated for cannons.   Some mild shampoos don't produce a lot of foam, but enough to do a weekly light wash.    Others will stick to the car; some will fall off quickly.

Some users foam the car, let it dwell, rinse off, then do a 2 bucket wash.   Other users foam, then start washing with the shampoo on the car. Try both processes.

    Most importantly, have fun

It happens, hey be glad it looks like it was on a really cheap part to replace, good way to learn without having done a huge pannel or a really expensive vehicle.

I would also call around to your local junk yard, you might be surprised what is there as well.

To clarify,  its not Adam's polisher, just one that they sell.   The Rupes polishers are strong but it was my error that caused it to happen.  I should have tried polish first and not went right to compound with a semi aggressive pad. i also should have taped off the edge to reduce the chance of burning through.  all those mistakes equals the results i am left with.

I used the new style orange towels today and HOLY LINT. Even a few quick snaps didn't cure these ones. My dog stood under the shower and it looked like she was in an orange snow storm. Last years style were much better. At the rate these things lint, I'll have to wash them a half dozen times before they stop shedding.

Another way to strip without water is to use 15% isopropyl alcohol solution. Saves the extra drying step and getting all the water dripping out

Did a strip wash and then applied LPS on my daily for the winter months and topped it with some wax. I used a polisher to seal it with, that was a lot of fun!

What Mariner said....I have front and rear dash cam setup in my DD Cruze. It is a ThinkWare F750 front camera, X500 rear camera with the hardwire kit that allows parking and motion monitoring. I bought it mainly for driveway security but the piece of mind that if someone was to hit and run in a parking lot accident or on the road, it would provide evidence to set fault for the claim.
