kaj41354 reacted to Dan@Adams in PRO TIP: Dilution Ratios
Hey everyone, quick update here. I edited the original post of this thread to include dilution ratios of some of our newer products and added them to the list. The rest of the post is a bit outdated now with old pictures and so on, so I'm working on a new Blog write-up for the website as I type this.

I'm planning on explaining dilution ratios similar to this thread, but also including percentages of mixtures since some people find that much faster and easier to make some custom mixtures.

If you have any other suggestions, thoughts, or questions, please post them here and I will see if they can be incorporated into the new write-up! Thank you!

kaj41354 reacted to Captain Slow in What light do you use to find swirls on Silver Metallic paint?
Daniel, you inadvertently answered your own question. You don’t need a different light source you need a darker background to contrast the light reflected off of silver paint. When I work on my wife’s silver Beast I will turn off all the lights in the garage and use a hand held LED flashlight to check my work. My previous ( and next!) vehicle was pearl white and I learned quickly to do what we do in our optical lab when we’re inspecting lenses for cosmetic defects.
This lens looks pretty good, right?   Guess again.

Same lens, same old man hand but with a black background providing contrast just like your security light at night. Perhaps a pop up shade or parking under a tree if you have no garage. You may also need to get down closer to the paint and change the angle of reflection to help see imperfections.

My recommendation for longevity and ease of application for a large area is HGG.  If the RV is primarily white, then HGG is even better.  Alternately, if you are going to wash it on a regular basis and use a foam gun, you can use Wash & Wax and the Red Car Wash Wedge since it will cover a large area quickly.    https://adamspolishes.com/collections/car-washing-accessories/products/adam-s-wash-wedge

Using Wash & Wax, My motorhome, which I sold about 2 years ago was a 30' Class C and I could do it with Wedge and Foam Gun in about 4 hours.  The 30' camper that I take care of and has 3 sliders takes me about 3 hours and the 26' class A, no slides, takes about 2.5.   I can do them every 4 to 6 weeks.

When using HGG it is a spring and fall endeavor and takes about 8 hours for a 27' Class A with two slides.  HGG requires a wash first and then the application of the HGG and time on a ladder.  The HGG does give it a better appearance, but it is a whole lot more work.  I have not had anyone willing to pay for a coating yet on a camper or motorhome, but I suspect that would be a many day effort.

Revive Hand Polish or now it is just called hand polish tends to make the graphics really pop.  The downside is that once you start with the hand polish on the graphics, especially if they are oxidized, you have to do them all because they will look so much better.

Rain doesn't cause water spots.  It is the minerals in the water that causes them.  So if there is a lot of dirt on the surface and it rains.  Well that is a different thing.

I just want to throw some Kudos out at Christian in Adams Support. Dude was super helpful, knowledgeable and just all around great to deal with. It never ceases to amaze me how nice the folks are at Adams and how well they treat the customer. It’s why they are such a great company to buy from. The best part is the customer service. I’ve never had experiences like I have with Adams with ANY other company I have traded with. Chic Fil A is the only thing that comes close. This is probably the third or fourth time I am bragging on someone at Adams. It won’t be the last. Christian if you are out there on the Forum, THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT TODAY!!! Will I have used the foam cannon now for over a few years and on all different sizes of cars and I usually have 1/4 left after covering the car completely.  I then dump the remainder in my wash bucket.  I have several cars that have more surface than the Z.  Not sure why this is happening to you

With Paint Sealant, HGG is a perfect maintenance product every 3-4 washes, and in my opinion using regular Car Shampoo or Mega Foam would work well for cleaning.

You don't ever want to reuse your microfiber towels before cleaning them.  Use the Microfiber Revitalizer if you have it,  use LIQUID laundry soap if you don't (don't ever use powder), and either line dry or put them in the dryer with low or no heat and NO fabric softener in either the washer or dryer.  No dryer sheets either.  With proper care, they'll last years.  I have some that are 10 years old at least!

Love the Leather Conditioner, it works and smells great. Adams also now has a Leather and Interior Dressing that's a matte finish and no scent. Here's a side by side, The left is the Dressing, the middle is the is nothing/normal daily wear, and the right is the Conditioner.

I'll also add that I've done a few cars now with the new (to you) Leather and Vinyl Coating, and the results were really impressive. Every owner has said it was better than new. It's easy to work with, and it also gives a slight leather scent to the car too that smells like the Conditioner. That would be your best, longest lasting protection especially in that hot sun. Here's a before and after on a Mustang that I did.

    Hi Tony,
I'm going to start with the inside since it is leather.  I have owned and worked with many types leather over many years and have come to really appreciate the characteristics of the Adam's Leather Conditioner.  I will also be upfront in stating that there are couple of places that I do not use it, such as on saddle bags and some very old leather jackets.  When it comes to vehicle interiors, it is the go to product.

After making sure the area is free of dust or any debris, I use the premium interior applicator to apply a thin even coat on the dash, doors, center console and then move on to the seats.  For some of the higher end vehicles, Jaguar, Range Rover and a few others, the columns are also wrapped in leather.  The one thing to avoid is the grab handles since they can become slippery, since they are usually a hard plastic.

If the vehicle has been the sun and the leather feels dry, then I do two thin coats about 4 hours apart.  Once the vehicle has been conditioned and is received regular maintenance, you can do over them about every 3 months.   For the vehicles that are outside in the South Carolina sun, they will need to conditioning about every 2 months, especially during the summer when the interior bakes.

I disagree.  Cars are delivered with white self adhesive protective layers on them that hold in dirt and contaminants.  Once that's removed, you'll find swirls and scratches in every new car.  Before you wax or apply any protective sealant, the paint has to be properly corrected, and that can only be done by polishing to remove the blemishes.

If you decide to coat it, which I also recommend for the best, longest lasting results, definitely remove residue like on the paint despite what the instructions say. Not doing so could lead to unwanted and difficult to remove streaks.

Clean it, wipe it down with the prep if you have it, or alcohol. Then apply the Graphene the same as you do on the paint.

kaj41354 got a reaction from RayS in Graphene Ceramic Coating | FAQ's | Discussion
Okay.  I did some searches on YouTube and found quite a few videos where people did some test on different Spray coatings.  Some Ceramic, some Graphene, etc., etc., etc.  The have a little measuring tool that determine "Glossiness" in GU (Gloss Units?) and the differences were (IMO) minimal.  They were all in the 92-96 range.  I did notice that the difference in several tests between the Adam's CSC and Adam's GCSC was about 1.5 - 2 GU.  The tester was all impressed by that and stated that he could see the difference.  Admittedly, I am 66 years of age and my eyes aren't what they used to be but, in the video, I saw little difference.  I did see a little difference on my Morris ( the Dk. Green Woody in my sig.) when I experimented with Ceramic boost.  Not so much in depth but in gloss.  But again that could be my old eyes.  IMHO, will the Graphene Coating give you a Rich, Deep, Glossy Shine!  YES! BUT, it will be at it's best if you spend the time doing the prep work that is necessary to get as close to perfect as possible. Will there be a difference between Americana/Patriot/CSC/GCSC/GCC? YES...and if experience means anything I know that when something new comes out, I will try it and at least believe that it looks better that last years latest and greatest.

Also, it makes a difference as to what the paint is on the car and your level of satisfaction.  For example, My Morris is a Clearcoat and it looks deeper and Glossier that most.  The MGB is a recent repaint but is a single stage.  It has the Gloss but the depth is not what I get on any car with Clearcoat (IMO) the 52 Chevy is original paint and the best I get with it is with PS and HGG - it is neither Glossy or Deep but it is 68 y.o. paint and I am happy with it.
