  1. I never had the blue only the older grey and found them close in particulate removal, but the Visco Clay is so much more pliable at a larger temp range. The old grey clay would be like a brick if it was on the colder side when getting out early to start detailing.
  2. Welcome David, good to have another person from the Portland Area. Gary is very nice and terrific to deal with.
  3. On the 2013 Explorer I stand in the doorsill for the front and on the back tire for the back.
  4. The Red Brush is one of the best they put out, got one recently and it is crazy how well it cleans the wheels.
  5. Recently bought a Char-Griller Kamado Kooker Acorn Grill, assembled it this afternoon and did my initial burn in/season of the grating. Never had anything but gas grills, so there will be some learning curve getting proper fires built for grilling or smoking. I've found some tips/additions for the grill that I will perform. New temp gauge, extra sealing etc..
  6. Guess I'm in the different crowd. I like that Callaway Vette, but I'm a no convertible, 2 door post with poverty caps and big engine under the hood kinda person.
  7. A little goes further than you think and more product isn't really better with H2O G&G. I've found once the application towel gets saturated you really don't nee much on a panel. Still working out how much I need over a panel, too thick juts makes it a bit harder to get off clean.
  8. Looks pretty good, but my wife wouldn't let me in there with my wallet..
  9. I have a tin I got after talking to Matt and the Roadster show. I tried it out on the hood of my new to me truck and I should have let it haze a bit longer, but it went on and came off super easy.
  10. I don't know the particular dealer or their service department, but I would be surprised if it was ph balanced. Most likely it was run through some sort of automated wash bay with scratch-o-matic brushes. I worked at a place doing customer car washes in college and they used a soap that worked fine, but it stripped everything off.
  11. Reading the story before scrolling to the pics I was not expecting a newer body Explorer. The paint looks pretty good in the pics, but there is a hint of that chalkiness to the plastics. I drive a 2013 until I have to turn it in from the company lease and the H2O G&G makes the water pool towards the back of the hood as you drive and then rush to the front and spatter as the wind catches it as you stop.
  12. I've read that 0000 Steel Wool can scratch glass, so I would be very careful with that method (not tried it myself). I'm curious to try the Barkeepers Friend mentioned above, my recent acquisition could use some deep cleaning on the windshield.
  13. The Dawn will dry out rubber over time with no preventative treatment. I've seen it first hand years ago, a neighbor always said "Soap is soap" and would wash with anything he had handy. If you treat regularly with SVRT a once a year strip wash with some Dawn shouldn't do any harm. APC is the recommended way with Adams, but I've tried both and saw no negative effect from either method. As always your mileage may vary.
  14. I've never gotten the life out of glass sealant you have, so next application I'm going with your method, let it more than flash and really give it a full cure before removal.
  15. Went to the Portland Roadster Show, had a nice walk around the show looking at the cars. Got to talk to Matt from the Adams crew at the Adams booth and picked up a couple products.
  16. Went to the Show today and saw Gary and Matt, both super nice and Gary gave me a good deal on my purchases. Matt, like any of the Adams crew I've met, was good to talk to and very knowledgeable on the line of products. If your going to the show make sure to stop and grab something from Gary.
  17. I was getting less suds in my foam gun with a mix than either on their own, never sorted out why. Also, now it could be my imagination, but I seemed to get better suds when I took the canister in the house to fill with warm water over the soap concentrate.
  18. Old stuff worked great, but that smell.... I had to resort to wearing rubber gloves when using it so as not to smell it on my hands for days afterwards. I hope to pick up some of the new stuff this weekend at the Roadster Show, but sometime the local dealer doesn't have the newest stuff right after it comes out.
  19. I have only broke it out once so far, after a mini-detail (wash, gloss and svrt) my hands were slick from the SVRT and the blue Dawn didn't do much to break it down. I remembered I got some of the hand cleaner so I gave it a go and took it all off. Great product.
  20. Detail Spray is pretty great and I am a fan of Buttery Wax (doesn't get enough love IMO), but H2O Guard and Gloss is steadily become my favorite of the line.
  21. It will be OK, you know Adam's will make it right in the end.
  22. First Line Maintenance for a Photo Lithography Company. I repair and perform preventative maintenance on the equipment the company manufactures that print the images that become microchips.
  23. I think you should still have plenty of life left in the current application since it is garage kept and not in the elements.
  24. Good deal, I met Matt last year at the show, it will be nice to see him again and thank him for his hard work with Adam's in person.
