I tried to make my own grit guard once with a frisbee. I cut a bunch of 1" holes in it and set it down in the bucket. It might have worked if it didn't keep floating to the top, lmao!

It will be a bit before I can try it out.  Have my kids truck tore apart right now.  Fixing leak in oil pan, and replacing it.  Having to remove the front differential to get the pan out, and will fix a leak in that while I have it out.  As well as replacing the starter.  Not what I really want to be doing with that polisher in the house.  Happy to help my son out though.

I actually found it in the bottom of those mints that Rich sent me a while back.  He must have forgot that he left the polisher in there.  Not really.  I wish the buffer fairy left it.  Apparently I was number one on the preorder list at that other place.  Ordered it last Fall, and had to play the waiting game.

Definitely not the King, more like servant.  Learning everyday though, like everybody else on this Forum.  It is people like you Mike that help us learn.  Amongst others on the Forum that share their wealth of knowledge when it comes to detailing.  Thanks.  If I lived closer to some of you I would be happy to share.

You have the pad colors correct. There's two type pads for the Correcting Polish:  the Microfiber pad has more cut than the foam pad.  The foam will finish down a lot better.

Recommendation:  Start w/ the foam pad. If that doesn't cut it (pun not intended) step up to the microfiber and then step back down to the foam before finishing with the Finishing Polish.

Feets31 reacted to Dan@Adams in Triple soft towels
Great question! The new Triple Soft Towels have a longer, thicker nap when compared to the new Double Soft, which has a shorter nap to the fibers. It has the same 1100GSM rating as our old Double Soft towel, but with the thicker and longer fiber material. All 3 new towels are incredibly soft. The Triple will work great for many uses just like the Double Soft - Detail Spray wipe downs on the most delicate painted surfaces, polish and wax removal, rinseless washing, H2O Guard & Gloss application, and so on. I still like to recommend our Borderless Gray Towels for H2O Guard & Gloss though, since they're color coded to the product and then you don't have to worry about slightly staining your white towels like some people have issues with.

The new Single Soft has a little bit longer of a nap than the old towel as well, so it's similar to the Triple Soft in that regard, but the towel itself is much thinner and the fibers are not as thick as the triple. All 3 towels have a scratch-free satin edge border as well - Single has a black satin edge, double has a silver edge, and triple has a dark gray edge.

Here's a picture I just took of the new towels, each folded in half and then folded into thirds without trying to smash them down at all to show a fair comparison. From left to right - Single, Double, Triple. So much softness

If you can afford it now, keep it.  If you can afford it easier later, get it then.  But you do want it.  I get the wheels on my camaro with one and it was super.  Plenty of power and easy to handle.  Good luck with a decision.

Feets31 reacted to Adam in Pad Failure on Rupes Mk2 Polisher
Thanks for this feedback, first of all.  Thanks to you Dylan for showing up with a very good explanation as well!   True, the new machine needs to be used at a lower speed setting.  In our testing, we find that setting 4 on the Mark II is a bit higher than the Mark I at full speed, setting 6.

We are going to do some more testing, and have some replacement pads for all who have burned through ours.  Ideally, please send photos of your roasted pad, and we'll get you the replacements quick!  Orders@AdamsPolishes.com

This new tool is powerful, and goes beyond paint correction.   We hope to have an ideal solution identified shortly, and think we are close now....stay tuned!

Get a suitable spray bottle and buy a gallon of product and you are set.  I liked the 36 oz size but when they went away I found some easy spray bottles and now use them. Adam's had them for a while.

The LHR15II is my personal favorite tool in the line right now. You won't be disappointed!

A tip for you - REDUCE YOUR SPEEDS! The Mark II 15 saw close to a 40% increase in power over its predecessor and as a result your typical working speed needs to be setting 3 or 4, then jump to 5 or 6 when you need added torque to maintain pad rotation on curves.

It's a big departure from what you may have been coached to do with all your other machines, but with the new power levels you can cook some pads if you run wide open all the time.

We set a new standard for polishers with these tools and as a result we're retraining a decade + of bad habits. Think of it like a car:

When you drive you don't floor it everywhere. You drive the car at some percentage lower than 100% throttle to get where you're going. You floor it to go up a hill, pass someone on the highway, or outrun the cops

You 15II is the same way - only punch it full throttle when you need it. Enjoy!
