mexiking2365 got a reaction from SgtLip in When did Adam's have 16 oz bottles of compound and polish?
I wonder why adams hasnt gone the franchisee route like chemical guys has done with their detail garage. They opened one up here just outside of baltimore which is a 35 min drive from me here in DC. alot of those customers are adams faithfuls that hate waiting and payin lg for shipping and opt to go there instead.

Other than the 1mm, no, but I needed an adapter for those sizes as well for my SunJoe. Here's a link that may help you.

You can buy a 14-15mm male to male connector, or 15mm fittings. OG has them, Ive purchased several fittings here:
    https://www.ebay.com/usr/pressurewashingsupplycenter?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

To be clear, it is the inner diameter of the fitting that is important. Many OEM manufacturers use a 15mm fitting but aftermarket folks use 14mm. No clue why. Hence the need for adapter or 15mm inner diameter fittings.

The same daughter that has the Mustang decided to be the one to go rouge and get a non-Red vehicle.  Maybe she's aged and been married long enough that she thinks she can chart her own course, whatever the case, she bought a Blue car for her daily driver.  Being the good father that I am, I won't disown her for it and I even took the time to make it look as good as possible.  The one thing I will say, is that I am very disappointed in the quality of the paint on the car.  It is a car that if it goes without protection, there won't be anything left in a few years.

I had her bring it over last night and put it in the garage so I could get started early this morning.  My overall goal was to give the car some depth, clarity along with some reflective properties and I think I accomplished the objectives.  Once the car was cleaned I went over it using the baggie test and didn't even need to break out the Clay Mitt, so I started in polishing.  I did a test spot with Revive and it just didn't give me what I was looking for, so I did a test spot with One Step Polish and the results were very good, so that's that route I went.  This was my first time using the Adam's One Step Polish and I'm pleased with how easy it was to use and the end results and it was the least aggressive method I could think of, especially since it didn't need to be Clayed.

Once I had the car polished, I started with the Ceramic Paste Wax.  The car is very small and the humidity was high, so I was able to do two panels at a time, treating the hood and roof as two panels.  I do a very thin coat of the Ceramic Paste Wax and use a 1/2 turn of the applicator per panel and if the applicator starts to feel dry, then I know I'm trying to do too big of an area. The first picture is after the wash and before I started polishing, the second picture is after the polish and application of the Ceramic Paste Wax.   For reference the Malibu is sitting 48 feet away from the Fiesta, so I believe I met the goal of getting some depth and reflective properties into the Fiesta.

If nothing else, I at last got a Red car into the picture...

Yeah, these daughters can be a real pain.  I've been CHEVY all my life, and what does she do?  Goes and marries a Ford guy.  After I paid for college and everything!!! No loyalty. But what can we do. They're always daddy's little girls.
Nice job dad.  Just don't give her her allowance for a month.

Bought this car a couple months ago and finally have had some nice warm weather where I could tackle the first detail on it. I was told that the paint may have been original but it was definitely at least 42 years old. The car had swirls everywhere and showed some oxidation. Taking the recommendations of some of the more experience detailers here on this forum, after washing and claying this beautiful beast, I tackled it with Revive.  after several cleanings of my 2 applicators and making my hands and coveralls the same color as the car, the car looked pretty good. I think that previous owners must have only washed and waxed without any time of detailing.   I then hit it with Paint sealant and at that point was a little disappointed.  It was starting to get dark and my 65 y.o. arms were sore so, I waited til the next morning to complete the job.  My disappointment turned to joy after using Brilliant Glaze and Americana.  This is my first time using Revive and despite what I have read, at least 80% of the Swirl marks are gone and the oxidation appears to be either gone or at least not visible.  Spent at least 9 hours total but I have to say, it was worth it!!!

Thank you Adam's for another great product and to those forum member who gave me the advice

Good question, @Twilcox. I struggled with the differences myself, but you'll soon figure out the differences are in the name. I'll try to explain...

Waterless Wash is good for light dust, fingerprints, etc. It has a very small amount of shine enhancements. The use is in the name...no water needed, just spray from the bottle and wipe away with the WW towel(s).

Rinseless Wash is good for dirtier cars, but not the caked on crud. It's best used with a bucket of water and several towels (Double Softs work great). Again, use is in the name...water is needed, but no rinse. Just wipe with a wet towel and buff away residue. If you want, you can also dilute RW 16:1 for a Waterless Wash-like solution at a more economical price point (but it doesn't smell as good IMO).

Ceramic Waterless is similar to regular WW, but it has 7% silica so is ideal for ceramic coatings like yours or in conjunction with other silica infused products. I have Ceramic Paste Wax on mine and LOVE the combo. The Ceramic Waterless is quickly moving into my Top 5 from Adam's.

Either WW is great for in-between wipe downs, with the Ceramic more suited for your coating. RW is better served for "heavier" cleanings, but again, not caked on.

Detail Spray, Waterless Wash, Rinseless Wash diluted 16:1 (Waterless Wash-like solution), and Ceramic Waterless Wash are all good options...and sold in large bottles! Plus, adding a solid base coat first like Paint Sealant or Ceramic (Spray) Coating would make it easier to keep clean and add a ton more protection.

mexiking2365 reacted to falcaineer in What can I use as a topper for h2o Guard & Gloss??
So @buffalobob920 and I replied at exactly the same time, and I'll chime in again briefly. Spray Wax and HGG are in different product families...carnuba vs acrylic resin (with some SiO2)...I would recommend staying in the same family and continue with the HGG every few washes. Mixing can adversely affect hydrophobic properties of each other. Nothing wrong with trying the Spray Wax, but the HGG is just fine by itself.

Here's more on product differences and layering, and why I make the recommendation I do...

Don't read into that too much or infer anything, as there has been no mention of gallons for these new scents. I would assume the marketing team will gauge how well they sell before any decision like that would be made

mexiking2365 reacted to shane@detailedreflections in 2nd Detailed Reflections Clinic in CT - April 27 - Official
    Hey guys and girls!

Earlier this year we hosted a detail clinic at my home/shop. It was well received and I’ve been talking to my guys about having another one. We decided that rather than cramming one in this year when we have a bunch of work lined up, we would do it next spring.

We wanted to pick a date early for two reasons. First is so everyone has ample time to plan and manipulate their schedules for a good turnout. Second was so that we could do the planning portion and make it even better than last years.

So right now it looks like April 27, 2019 is the date of the clinic. We may shift gears a little bit and instead of traditional last step products, we may focus on one of our entry level coatings for a lucky attendee.

For the interior portion, we will go through how we handle interiors. Well, Marquis will go over how he handles them. But this year we will add some interior protection as well.

We will also install a full car glass package on an attendees car!

As the date gets closer, I’ll reach out to our vendors and see if we can get some sample product for people to go home with. We will have new shirts available and sweatshirts can be ordered before or after.

Just like this year, we will make this a hands on clinic. So our tools become yours for the day. Our products are all available to sample and ask questions about. And most of the work we do will be performed by the attendees.

We welcome and encourage questions and try to make this a very friendly event where everyone leaves with some bit of knowledge. We had members from this forum attend this year so they can share their experiences.

The clinic is held in Colchester, CT!  Since I forgot to add that!

We are open to suggestions and questions!

I wouldn’t call it a dream garage, but it’s roomy (~26x36), well lit, clean, and laid out for year round detailing. I have plans for spring though which includes paint, new flooring, large tv, fridge, etc.

First, welcome! Be sure to post an intro on the New Member forum.

HGG is absolutely worth it! My favorite Adam's product. It can be used as a boost to the Paint Sealant every month or so, and/or as a standalone sealant. It's a water-activated acrylic resin, and is usually applied as you dry the car with one wet (borderless grey preferred) towel and one dry. I love the smell, too (grape).

Yes, you can apply it to dry paint using the "dry method." I attached a couple videos below for you to check out. The first is an oldie when it was first released and has some outdated products, but it gives a rundown of the dry application method starting at ~4:45 mark.

For longevity, it can last you a couple months in many cases. However, general practice is to apply it every 3-4 washes.

Yes, it can be used on plastic; it'll turn it darker and make it look great. It can also be used on glass, chrome, rubber trim...essentially the entire car. OK, not tires . But it does work on the rims.

It should also be noted many like the new Ceramic Boost 2.0, but I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

In the end, I highly recommend you get the HGG - I truly doubt you'll be disappointed. But if you are, Adam's has a 110% guarantee, so you have nothing to lose!
